  1. the bears absolutely have no O-line, no WRs, and no RB.......08 is going to be a disaster.
  2. all the veggies in the world won't remove the 100lbs of fat from his structure.
  3. Dusty is a freaking moron. Prolly the worst manager of all time. His only cred is that he went to the WS when Bonds had injected the most steroids in his body.
  4. By that logic, you must be one of the board's best posters, with such freely stated hashness here. ;) It's just an interview, man, be entertained by it or move on. Dempster, IMO, is easily a better interview than 90% of athletes anyway. I dont mean to be a party pooper, but can we have ONE year with no quotes before spring training and allow our play to speak for itself? I'd just hate to see this stupid quote brought up during the season if we tank.
  5. I'm mad that this jobber would say anything at all.....why do people even interview him? He's honestly one of the worst players on the Cub's roster this year. He should shut his mouth and better be prepared to have a good year.
  6. This deal is not gonna happen, can we move on already?............SS is more of a dire need.
  7. This is the best post I've seen in a long time.
  8. Yea, that's what we're doing. I'm getting the feeling that Deuce is 13 or 14. I remember responding pretty much the same way on like AOL message boards at around that age when all of the conventional wisdom baseball crap I thought I knew was brought into question. We should probably go easier on him... :? think again...a quote of his from the cubs.com board I don't know whats more disturbing. That quote, or the fact that hes coaching kids.
  9. for 2 young pitching prospects. Per ESPN EDIT: Doh, saw it was already posted....please remove mods!
  10. Overreaction much???? I stated this topic was long, and not relevant, because there are ZERO facts that the Padres/Cubs are considering this. So people are gonna rant and rave about Pie now, instead of discussing a trade or substantial trade rumors. Some of us visit threads just to look at the news and see whats going on. So when a thread is 150 pages with 149 being garbage and arguments on what prospect is better for what team.......it ruins the fact for some of us that don't wanna be on NSBB for 30 min.
  11. cool another thread thats going to last 100 pages without very substantial trade talk........
  12. SOMEONE PLEASE post the pic of him coming out of the toilet!!! hahaha. Wow, another one of "dusty's toy's."
  13. Ive seen various comments about this on other threads here, so I wanted to just throw this out there. If Felix Pie can't hit lefties at all, why is he even considered a "top prospect" or an untradeable commodity?
  14. Forget all these small numbers.......I think 2003 was amazing, but besides that hes been AVERAGE. I wanna see his numbers in 2004 and 2005 compared to other pitchers in the league that show him being above average.
  15. The Jays will overtake and Boston and New York with ALL THEIR GRIT
  16. No, it would be another toy for Dusty...eerrrrrr wait?
  17. I don't know about that. These people are going from bulked up athlete to extremely bulked up athlete with dramatic changes, not from "casual soccer player" to bulked up person. http://www.j-fam.org/rjjracin/PC1/Sosa_Donruss_RC.JPG Look at Sosa's muscles here, he looks like he already has solid defined muscles. The type of muscles that have been bulked up from at least a year or two of solid weight training. Since about 1995-1996, his body frame exploded. Its not like he went from couch potato to working out 5 days a week around that timeframe. He went from conditioned muscular athlete to humongous bulked up beast. Just my opinion. Anyone who entertains the idea that Sosa didn't use steroids is fooling themselves. The only muscles you can see in that picture are his forearms and his face. How can you determine anything from that? Not true. If you look at that photo with 3d glasses, you can see EVERYTHING.
  18. Such as? (Besides the "employee" quote, which seems to be almost all that anyone brings up) You do have a major man crush on Prior. There have been numerous solid points brought out about this entire situation, and you keep wanting more. You will bag on a poster or continue to poke and prod, for what they post, because it has a negative connotation to Mark Prior. You refuse to accept that this human being wanted no part of the Cub organization, and has made numerous comments to reporters that bear a representation of his feelings to the organization. Its obvious he was offered a fair contract based on IF HE SHOWS UP in the 2008 and 2009 year, not just a flat 5 MILL per year. But no you say! "All this is made up! All of you think hes weak and selfish! I want proof!" It doesent take a rocket scientist to read between the lines and figure this thing out. Now I'm not a stat head, BUT based off of what the other posters have said, Mark Prior was payed $15 mill during his Cub career, and just because he posted one amazing year (2003) does not mean he deserves more money based on that year. There are literally hundreds of MLB pitchers over the span of 50 years that have had amazing seasons while still earning the average salary. I can't believe that some people think he did us a favor by only being paid 15 mill during his time here. He has averaged 17 starts a season over his career, while only averaging 12 starts a season over the past 3 years. Hes pitched 200 innings once over the past 6 years. Take away 2003 and hes been an average pitcher. All of these numbers, along with him sitting out for at least half the season in 08 don't deserve a guarenteed contract. 2003 was 5 years ago. Time to move on. I dare say 2003 was a total fluke.
  19. Exactly...Look at Kerry Wood..Loyal, Dedicated guy...Mark Prior...Bottle and bib.. Yeah, heaven forbid a guy doesn't have loyalty for as team that fanned rumors of his "wussiness" which ended up delaying a surgery he needed for two years. Could it be, that maybe he opted for surgery because he didn't want to pitch in the minors? Sounds silly, but yes I am questioning his character.
  20. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that I highly doubt any quality pitcher in this league would do what Prior's doing. Big market team drafts you, sticks with you, pays you, rehabs you, and then opting out of this situation for a marginal contract upgrade. Yes I'm bitter, but then again, I'm a Cubs fan
  21. Mark Prior wanted a raise. He wanted 3.5 mill plus to sit on his butt until July at least. No, he wanted it as part of a deal where he'd ideally be pitching the 2nd half of the year and onwards. Do you REALLY think his goal is to get paid to not pitch? Stop for a second, think about that, and then answer. He's not negotiating for the first few months of 2008. He's negotiating for the next step of his baseball career. I don't think that is his goal, but thats definitely part of his problem. Hes not willin to budge on this, and he doesen't care about it. If he REALLY thought that he'd be able to come back and pitch games, then he would have accepted the contract. But he didn't because he knows theres more then a good chance that he won't pitch in the majors in 2008. BTW, hes not negotiating for the next step of his career, because he has the prove himself healthy first in order to get a long term deal. Teams won't give him alot of money or years, to be on the DL. Either way, Mark Prior has to prove himself a healthy baseball player, which is why this entire contract situation stinks of money and his unwillingness to work with the Chicago Cubs. Judging from the article, he wanted at LEAST 3.5 mill. He prolly would have settle for 5 mill. Which in my opinion is total crap. For one year of rehab? No thanks.
