  1. I'm really rooting for this board's collective knowledge to be correct (as it has proven to be, moreso than the media cognoscenti). I have tickets to both Dayton and Indianapolis. Would, obviously, like the chance to see IU both places (assuming that IU can win two games to make it to Indianapolis, which is no sure thing).
  2. Me too. But IU is pretty much clueless in physical half court games. It's why the second/third NCAA Tournament games concern me (maybe moreso than playing some other top-tier teams).
  3. Wish I had faith that today wouldn't be Groundhog Day all over again . . .
  4. You trying to reverse-jinx him for tomorrow?
  5. The bracket and game times are set months in advance. Pretty sure the time slots for seeds/games have been consistent for years (ever?).
  6. I believe it's always set up this way. I think the point is to give the #1 seed the benefit of the most rest. For example, if Michigan St. gets to the semi-finals, they'll have to play at around 3pm CST Saturday after finishing probably around 10pm the night before. IU as the #1 is guaranteed at least a full 24 hours between games by playing the early game tomorrow. I always figured the No. 1 seed played in the afternoon and not prime time because they expect the No. 1 versus No. 8/9 to be a mismatch and not a good game for television. Obviously that's not the case this year, but the league typically isn't this deep (and Illinois is better than two teams seeded ahead of them, compounding that).
  7. He does have an awful tailor (or no tailor at all). Though, in his defense, most Americans have no clue how a suit should fit.
  8. Which sort of proves my point, no?! Tom Crean: creepy, maybe; ref-screamer, not really. To be fair, the first four results were about him getting ejected from games... Two were from the same game three years ago, one from a game four years ago, and another predicting a technical foul in the next game while he was coaching Marquette. Not exactly a trend.

  10. I'd love to see the UI-IU game end like that tomorrow and watch Crean lose his mind getting ejected. I don't recall Crean ever receiving a technical foul at IU. He's a spazz, but he does very, very little screaming at officials compared to other coaches. That's because all you remembered was losing by 90 when he received them. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=tom+crean+technical+foul Ha, ok, touche. So it's been three years? Still pretty uncommon (heck, most IU fans complain that he should yell at officials more . . .).

  12. I sure hope not! (Hint for Illinois: play Griffey at the five.) I'm stuck at work, how did Minnesota look? Like they had any interest in being there or like a team anyone should feel comfortable with picking to do anything in the NCAA Tournament?
  13. Seriously, 12 of THOSE teams could make the tourney as at-larges??? Which is why I'm rooting for Iowa to do well in the Big Ten Tournament (and think they will). They're better than a number of teams that will receive at-large bids.
  14. Besides the "thank you" for compiling that data, I find it pretty amazing how closely clumped the average rating of opponent is for the teams listed. Edit: I was a bit premature because this post was prior to you finishing, but the point still mostly stands.
  15. Peter Jurkin got robbed! "Jobbed" might have been a better word choice . . .
  16. Me? I put Florida ahead of IU based on them being ranked second respectively in offense and defense by Kenpom, plus playing a more difficult schedule. Over the last few weeks though I think this has changed even though KP still has them No. 1. Yes. The schedule thing is a big issue. The efficiency numbers are equalized for schedule--and thus Florida's efficiency rankings are telling (though maybe they should be efficient in close games and not just blowouts?)--but the schedule strength isn't equalized for context. Initially, IU now has a better record against the No. 22 schedule than Florida does against the No. 47 schedule (and IU has five wins better than Florida's best, including three being on the road). Regardless, the only reason Florida's schedule was ranked higher at the time was their non-conference schedule was No. 55 and IU's was No. 287. But a large part of that was IU scheduling so many bottom-feeders--ask any Iowa fan about this--but beating No. 200 or No. 250 or No. 300 is essentially the same when we're talking about teams at IU or Florida's level. Those teams are all sacrificial lambs against IU or Florida or Louisville or Duke. None of this is to say Florida isn't better than IU, there are reasons to believe that (right now, I'd probably finger Louisville as the favorite, and they're ranked third). But a 0.0069 difference in Pomeroy isn't very convincing.
  17. I don't see why. Purdue has improved quite a bit and is playing much better. It would have been pretty easy for them to quit on the season, it says a lot that they did not. No reason they should refuse to keep playing out of foolish pride.
  18. Hmm, nope don't see anything about that being about Pomeroy's Top 11. I forgot that, I stand corrected. I thought you referring to that same poster's more recent comment regarding Ohio State, which indicated what I said.
  19. KenPom is a great tool, but let's not be dogmatic here. This is pretty funny. I've almost certainly been the most adamant poster on this very issue--that Pomeroy is a great tool, but not the gospels. Yet, in a previous argument with the poster we're talking about, I was informed that Florida was better than IU because Pomeroy said so. By that same logic, playing Minnesota (No. 24) and Iowa (No. 30) makes for a difficult schedule.
  20. Well, six of the last eight games have been against Ohio State, Iowa, Purdue, Nebraska and Minnesota. Someone has already said Ohio State isn't very good, which means those other teams are terrible. Apparently it hasn't been that brutal. they're the #7 team on KenPom And that poster said Ohio State was the weakest of the five Big Ten teams in Pomeroy's top-11, not that Ohio State wasn't very good. I think that's an entirely defensible position, even though Ohio State is playing very well right now (surprisingly well, in my opinion). Moreover, Minnesota is No. 24 in Pomeroy and Iowa is No. 30, meaning they are ranked higher than all but two SEC teams (and Purdue is ranked higher than all but four (!) SEC teams). If those are some of the easier games on your schedule, your schedule is brutal.
  21. only one top 100 win for them (ole miss). hard to see them getting an at large bid. They have a better resume than Iona did last year, and I could see the committee rewarding a dominant regular season champ over a middling major especially with how weak the bubble has looked this year. I think they'll make it. No real logic behind that other than the committee does seem to like to reward such teams.
  22. Yeah, not much of a reward in the tournament for winning the league. Illinois/Minnesota is an absolutely brutal first game for the No. 1 seed. And then the second game would be either a really good team they've beaten twice (and once this week) or the team they seemingly can't beat. I never expect much from IU in the Big Ten Tournament, but I care far less than I did before winning the regular season outright. That was one of my two main goals for the season . . . first time in twenty years, yeesh. Can't decide if I want to say Ohio State over Michigan or Michigan over Iowa for the tournament.
  23. Crean is weird, Meyer is dirty as hell. I'm siding with the weirdo in this one. Ha ha, exactly. Also, this thread has become mass hysteria, Purdue fans talking smack to the opposing team after an IU win, Illinois fans siding with Crean (rightfully), dogs and cats living together.
  24. Typical Illinois fan not giving any credit to the team that came back and won. Funny how we see things differently depending on bias. It was a good comeback, but Michigan got robbed on that flagrant no call. Michigan gagged I agree completely. Just liked I think IU gagged against Illinois.
