  1. Conley's their man at 3. I would try to trade down if I was them -- if at all possible. Conley is not the third best prospect in this draft. He may not be in the top 10. Of course, he does play the position of Atlanta's biggest need. Conley at 3 would likely work out for them, but you should be able to get him much lower (maybe even their #11 pick). That said, Atlanta has to be absolutely thrilled to be #3 -- they get two picks in the top 11 when they had the chance of having none. they'll screw it up Ha ha, without a doubt. Shelden Williams at #5, ugh, what a terrible pick. Marvin Williams at #2, same. What a sad franchise. I'm glad Oden/Durant won't go there and I hope Conley, Jr. doesn't either. I wish nothing but the best for Indiana HS players.

  3. West gets stronger. Northwest gets really lucky. Portland is going to be a monster in a couple years, they're destined to win multiple titles with the young core they have now. Seattle is going to score a ton of points. Atlanta at #3 is an interesting spot -- the best available players there are forwards where they need a point guard. Boston again has no luck in the lottery. I'm really glad Memphis didn't get the top spot.
  4. Oden. Anyone who says otherwise knows very little about basketball and especially the NBA. Yep. But if the Bulls get the #2 pick, there is no way they should pass on Durant though. I could care less about need. Need should not even be considered when you have a lottery pick in the NBA draft. You draft on talent alone. Oh, absolutely. I'd say the same thing about #2: anyone that wouldn't take Durant at that spot knows very little about basketball. The Bulls would then be in an enviable position of having almost too many talented players and thus setting up a big trade.

  6. Oh, I agree. Just because he looks like a giraffe on skates doesn't mean he isn't effective. He just isn't Liverpool's second best player.
  7. That strategy should work out well when Gooden and Hughes get suspended.
  8. I can't wait. As a Liverpool fan, I'm already excited/nervous. After what happened a couple years ago, I'm not terribly optimistic for this one. PS I can't believe the commercials for the game pump up Liverpool's two weapons, Gerrard...and Crouch. I like Crouch, but wow. yeah, i had a chuckle when i saw that commercial too. i'm guessing espn picked him because he was talked up quite a bit during last summer's world cup and he's more familiar to an american audience than kuyt or mascherano, or whomever else they'd pick. Yeah, I'm sure he's the second most (or, heck, maybe even the most) recognizable name to Americans from Liverpool. He's an anomaly at 6-7 and basically a novelty. Oh well, it's just funny to me.

  10. As davearm noted, the grand jury testimony is almost certainly inadmissable. They need to bust him outside the realm of the grand jury testimony. They need a positive test or admission of guilt. That is why this most recent semi-apology/admission provides them with more ammo (although my guess would be not enough). Still, he's made comments like this before. Nothing concrete, nothing totally incriminating, but generic, nonspecific apologies. Everyone knows what he was talking about, but he didn't say it outright. I don't think much has changed (though maybe this apology was worse, as he did at one point use the word "steroids"), except one additional vague statement. Color me way underwhelmed on the Yankees chances of voiding the deal, short of the grand jury testimony.
  11. Why now? Why again? Because Giambi was quoted recently (USA Today?) once again apologizing for using "that stuff", and saying "we" should have been more honest. He gave them ammo to once again look to getting out of his contract. He gave them more ammo? That ammo had already been given with his grand jury testimony in 2003. I don't see how he gave them more ammo, he just game them the same ammo again. He (sort of) admitted to using steroids for the second time. Which gives them ammo to revisit the notion of getting out of his contract. Had he not said anything, they wouldn't be leaking this story. It's not that confusing. I understand why the Yankees would want to get out of his contract, and I understand that the Yankees would want anything Giambi says regarding the situation to be ammo. But, regarding the voiding of his contract, they either can or cannot void the contract based on his steroid use. Since he already admitted to it -- in front of a grand jury, no less -- they don't need the extra ammo. The admission has been made. If the Yankees can void the contract, they don't need a second admission -- the first one would work. I don't understand why that's so confusing.

  13. A few thoughts: 1. Drew Gooden? Why? What in the world would that accomplish for the Bulls? I don't see how he's what they need at all. 2. Bargnani isn't a softy. 3. I don't trust anything Chad Ford says about international players. Workouts are just that, workouts. That said, that doesn't mean Jianlian won't be good. I have no idea. 4. I have no idea why McHale didn't take that deal. That would've been an absolute steal, even for a guy like KG. That would've rebuilt the entire T-Wolves franchise.
  14. Giambi used steroids!?!??!?!?! No way! I really don't understand this. The Yankees were rumored to be interested in voiding his deal previously. Everyone knows he used steroids, why now? Why again? PS I understand why they'd want out of the end of his deal.
  15. Most likely a sweep? I vehemently disagree with that; in fact, that borders on complete absurdity. The Spurs will win, sure.
  16. Why should he? They beat him because they were allowed to beat him up. The NBA got there wish, another boring finals. Hopefully the Jazz can beat the cheaters out. I'll be rooting for the Jazz; however, I'm not sure how hard. My #1 priority is someone other than the Pistons winning, and I'm uncertain if the Jazz would beat them. I hope it's Jazz-Cavs with the Jazz winning, but suspect it will be Spurs-Pistons with the Spurs winning. Damn the NBA, we should be watching Suns-Spurs Game 7 today.
  17. Eww. Yeah, those NASCAR races probably pull ratings that a reg season baseball game can't dream of. I don't understand the excitement of watching cars drive in circles for hours. I'll never understand it either.
  18. Lou brought him in because he already have up winning this game. I don't blame him though. This team always finds a way to make huge mistakes which cost them runs. It is absolutely pathetic. He certainly shouldn't have given up winning a game down two runs in a hitter's park. That's absurd. Second, Eyre has pitched in many close games, surely Lou hadn't given up winning all those too? This is only Eyre's 4th appearance in the past 2 1/2 weeks. One of those was the final out of a 7-1 win, and 1 of those was in extra innings when the Cubs were running out of pitchers. Lou hasn't been using him in many close games lately. I'll stand corrected. It just seems like he pitches all the time. However, that's "giving up on winning this game" would be moronic. I seriously, seriously doubt that entered Lou's mind. It's a hitter's park and it was a two-run game in the sixth. Yeah, I bet that CCP also doesnt think that it actually entered Lou's mind, but its a coment on how bad Eyre has been and that it seems stupid to bring him in to a tight game that we still have a chance in. And now that we have come back a little it looks like it was. CCP didn't say that. I was refuting something another poster said. My bad, I looked at the quotes and thought it was CCP. But what I said still stands for the poster. EDIT: Great, that was my 5000th post. What a waste. Haha, sorry you wasted such a post responding to me.

  22. Seriously, Eyre is terrible. How does Lou not realize it? He has to, right? Why does he always pitch?
