  1. Inner Circle, Any stat number available for the percentage of times the Cubs have scored with a runner on 2nd and less than 2 outs? On a separate note, I dont think Clevenger has made contact with a curveball or slider on the outside corner yet this year...at least he's swinging at them though these days
  2. ...and then there were 0 pitchers with an ERA below 3.00 on the active roster.
  3. the cubs get the lead and dempster gives it right back up the next inning...never said that before #-o  [-X
  4. Why not throw the Shark in there? Gotta see what you have in him and if he can ever be a 8th inning kind of guy....sure looking like hes nothin but a 5th, 6th, 7th, or crap innings pitcher.
  5. Wow. Ramirez if the throw is bad, it's okay to leave the base to catch it.
  6. Minus his first start...Zambrano has pitched pretty well, considering his April career stats.
  7. If only we scored as many runs as ESPN catches Lou Piniella yawning tonight...2 thus far shooter.
  8. I will take Podsednik any day. He knows how to get on base. He knows how to move runners. He knows how to be a pest and steal bases. Our team stole 56 bases as a team last year. He hit .320 against lefties last year as well. Put him in the leadoff role and watch him do his thing. We've tried to be a home run team the past few years and it hasn't worked. Give me some speed in this lineup.
  9. who do you want as your Cubs CF next year of the 3?
  10. i love milton in the 2-hole. .327/.431/.509/.940. Don't get rid of him. I'd rather get rid of Fukudome then him.
  11. Well said. Since I didn't back up my last statement and was proven wrong, I will back up this guy with stats. This season: Man on 3rd, < 2 outs: .228/.238/.556 (4-18) 13 RBI's RISP: .205/.327/.398 (18-88) 31 RBI's Bases loaded: .143/.188/.357 (2-14) 8 RBI's When the bases are loaded and he steps to the plate I have just accepted the fact that the guy on 3rd isn't going to score. There's no reason to boo anymore, like Nick Friedell wrote on his blog yesterday, it's now an indifferent silence when I watch Soriano pop out to 2nd or strikeout with runners in scoring position. If only we could trade the Phillies outfield for our outfield (or the whole Phillies team for our team).
  12. Hate to tell you, but he didn't suck last year. he actually did suck last year minus 4 weeks of hot hitting. Ridiculous. what did he bat in the playoffs? 1-14....He really hits when it matters. Most of his home runs came when we were up or down by a bunch of runs.
  13. Hate to tell you, but he didn't suck last year. he actually did suck last year minus 4 weeks of hot hitting.
  14. "Cubs are 3-33 when they score 2 runs or less." -That's a lot of games we havent scored many runs in. (103 total games played) -Would Sherill be our closer if we got him? -Any closers out there in free agency next year? -Go Cubs. Let's go sweep the Reds.
  15. Our first round prospects haven't turned out really well recently, but we've acquired guys like Soto, Zambrano, Marshall, Theriot, Guzman and Wells through the draft and international signings. The point is our minor league system is day and night from teams like Minnesota, Atlanta, Oakland, Tampa Bay, the Yankees. I'm sorry to say but none of those players you mentioned are in the Top 50 players in baseball. We never have top notch prospects to make big deals. Jason Dubois is still starting in Triple A for us, he isn't a prospect, its been proven he cant play in the MLB and yet we give away guys like McGahee and Hamilton. If i were a scout and saw Fukudome's helicopter swing when I was scouting him I wouldn't have offered 14 million a year or whatever he's making. Our scouting/minor league system is garbage.
  16. bring back Tyler Houston...and Jose Nieves as well.
  17. Either way (if we sign ryan or not) i dont see why you put marshall back in the rotation. B.J Ryan isn't going to come here and be unhittable or anything even if we do sign him. Keep Marshall as our left handed guy in our bullpen/emergency outfielder.
  18. Why can't they move Soriano to second and put Fox in left? Money aside, you bench Bradley and put Fox in RF and start him everyday. You can't put this guy back in the minors. He's proven he can hit. As much as people love Fuld pitchers are going to find out his weaknesses and exploit them like every other rookie. I love his energy but Fox has to be on the squad no matter what.
  19. Bring back Jeromy Burnitz. ;)
  20. "He's a moran. Many Cub fans don't like Big Z, I'm not one of them. If his arm doesn't fail he's one of the best pitchers in baseball." Best pitchers in baseball. I wouldn't say that. Big Z is Big Z.
  21. Hendry has an awful lot of long term contracts he signed that aren't working out: -Bradley, Soriano, Fukudome, Zambrano Why is Bradley hitting 3rd still? He's now 4-20 at getting the runner in from 3rd with less than two outs now I believe, after today. Bat him 8th for all I care. But then again, he'd see more fastballs...which he can't hit.
