  1. when you can't hit meatballs with authority, the pitchers realize they don't have to nibble and they get into a groove i remember when this team could make pitchers feel actual pressure, facing the cubs in the playoffs has to be the easiest thing for a first time postseason pitcher's nerves
  2. I know you are captain pessimist but honestly you are saying what I've been thinking. But I've been known to be pretty pessimistic myself. None of the Marlins players scare me offensively, Yu should be able to mow them down for 7-8 innings. Who knows in Game 3. I'd still much prefer a bullpen style game, but maybe that's what we'd get even if BD John pitches. So there is definitely room for optimism, but at the same time the result of this playoffs could have been a lot worse than feebly getting swept by the Marlins. yu will give up 1 cheap run and we won't score
  3. can someone figure out what we slash in the playoffs as a team in the theo era i feel like hurting myself
  4. yu may have pitched 7 scoreless, because he is better. also doesn't yu starting game 2 mean he wouldn't have been able to start the nlds until game 2? it doesn't really matter, but there was absolutely no reason for it. it's a stupid ass galaxy brain move by ross. if you have a cy young winner and he's rested and healthy, you start him first. None this matters if the Cubs didnt have the absolute worst offense I've ever seen from a playoff team ever. this is how we generally hit in the playoffs though
  5. those pitches weren't even that bad must be nice to have hitters that can occasionally hit tough pitches and feast on the bad ones
  6. happy for Jimmy now please make it a series

  20. I'm not quite as jaded as you are. I think this new hire will legitimately be empowered to do whatever they want... I agree and wonder why keep Paxson around? Or Forman? It will be a little bit of an impediment to hiring top-tier talent, but Chicago is one of the best cities in the world. We have a great fanbase and a decent roster. It's not an amazing roster by any stretch, but it's not barren or devoid of talent. We'll see what happens, but Paxson might just end up like Ken Williams with the White Sox -- I mean who really knows what he does now? From everything I've heard and read, Rick Hahn makes all the key decisions now. For Paxson, it's a cushy salary with no job requirement or expectations. It looks better than being fired or let go. No more embarrassing radio appearances getting asked tough questions. I think this is good news, but it really depends on who they hire and exactly how much power and autonomy they have. If they get someone of the caliber mentioned in the Woj piece I wouldn’t be worried about GarPax being figureheads. Those are legit names.
  21. hopping on the clippers bandwagon now
