  1. That's where I point to their near-record awfulness this year and question whether Wall/Turner alone puts them even in the top 10 in the East. You'd really take the Nets roster with Wall/Turner over Chicago's? I wouldn't.
  2. Because there's a 25% chance they'll have John Wall? Yes, if the Nets sign Lebron James they'll have a better roster than the Bulls.
  3. These last few posts just got me thinking that there the media market factor for NJ is completely overblown. I think the Clippers, Nets, and even the White Sox have proven you can be in a major media market and be utterly irrelevant nationally.
  4. Rose has to go to the Berto Center to take calls from Lebron?
  5. I thought the Hawks were pretty lucky. Niemi was unbelieveable. Nabokov was ok but the Sharks had way more juicy chances. Chicago also lost too many draws in its own zone. A few power plays would be nice too. How unusual is it for a team not to get one power play for a whole game?
  6. Eh, they were clearly rusty. They'll be fine.
  7. Those stats tell me that you guys are too hard on Duncan Keith.
  8. I guess the most immediate thing to root for is for the Nets to get jobbed in the lottery. What's the lowest they can pick? 3rd?
  9. I'm just not sure what cap space does to help a LeBron-less Cleveland. Yeah they might get someone in a trade but they don't necessarily need cap space to make the trade. Either way, if LeBron left Cleveland, the pressure is on to do something with that team immediately. My theory is, even without LeBron the Cavs can still be relevant for 1-2 years just because of how in the spotlight they were during the LeBron years. If they can't make something of that team in that time frame the Cavs will quickly become Cleveland, wasteland of the NBA again (providing they don't strike it rich in the lottery). Grim assessment but that's what the Cavs would be looking at without LeBron IMO. That said despite everything that's been said and everything that's happened, I still think theres a good chance he stays after some reflection. His postgame quotes talked about discussing his situation with his teammates to help him make the right choice. I could be wrong about this, but I thought when he was talking about his "team," he was referring to his group of advisers, his agents/friends/family/etc. Maybe that's just the Bulls fan in me talking, but that's the impression I got.... That's definitely what he meant.
  10. Unless they know he's not coming back no matter what. Even so...unless you're getting back something great you just let him walk I think. The PR is more important than getting Luol Deng back. I'd rather just have the cap space anyway since they're back at square one.
  11. I can't see why Cleveland would accept any S&T deal for Lebron. Unless it's just an overwhelming offer (re: not Luol Deng) you make James turn his back on the city and sign somewhere else outright.
  12. they easily cleared 60 wins this year? they won 61 and their pythagorean wins were 59. and they were only 2-2 against boston and orlando during the regular season. lebron and mediocre cast can beat up on bad teams but teams with more depth can play with the cavs during the regular season and then game plan to force guys like mo williams and varejao to beat the during a long playoff series. They lost their last 4 when Lebron was sitting so I'd say so.
  13. A team with a truly wretched supporting cast and totally relying on one player is like Kobe in 2006. The Cavs have good players. They just choke.
  14. The Cavaliers are making history at winning so many games in the regular season and not even appearing in the Finals the last couple years. How bad is their supporting cast really to easily clear 60+ wins two years in a row? It's mental/coaching, not talent. You win 60+ games you're talented enough to at least MAKE the Finals.
  15. We are Cubs fans I dont feel sorry for any other teams Cleveland is so far below Chicago on the levels of sports hell.
  16. I feel bad for Cleveland.
  17. This is all about watching the death of professional basketball in Ohio now.
  18. Varejao has been a huge bitch this game.
  19. Good job Lebron. You have to at least look like you're trying.
  20. Lebron's not even looking at the rim from the perimeter. Maybe his elbow really is messed up.
  21. It's kind of silly to put that much emphasis on PER when your team is historically bad. Lopez is nice but it's not close. Putting PER in a vacuum makes Shareef Abdur Rahim look like Tim Duncan some years.
  22. zomg chris broussard mentioned us before the knicks on the list of teams looking at FAs
  23. Time to declare victory on the 2009 season.
  24. As always, imb gets right down to brass tacks. Anyway, he probably would get a job pretty quickly but so what? Everyone knows pro sports, even the SABRized MLB, is an insular culture with retreads all over. That being said, I think we should look at Kevin Towers.
  25. I think this is the most I've looked forward to a non Bulls NBA game in a long time.
