  1. The summitt happened, IMO.
  2. There's some dumb free agency show starting on ESPN right now.
  3. Oh yeah I'm sure they're talking. I hope Rose is talking too. But I do think agent/handler types would want to put the kibosh on stories of their clients meeting in person with guys who aren't technically free agents yet to discuss their own impending free agency.
  4. I don't know I think Redflash might be right. It doesn't take much to get charged with tampering even if it only results in a fine.
  5. You mean Russians.
  6. Disgusting flop on that Portugese straight red.
  7. Agreed. Let the other teams deal with these guys har har
  8. That's what Marvin Harrison did (in fact he owned the places) and he ended up killing a dude--allegedly.
  9. Broussard was just on ESPN sounding pretty adamant that the meeting between James, Bosh, and Wade really took place and that denials are coming in so there's no taint of tampering.
  10. Well if the Bulls do deliver Lebron and Bosh it's kind of amazing how many things would've gone right for them leading up to it. 1) 1.7% to get Rose 2) Noah getting his head on straight 3) Getting rid of Noc's terrible contract for Miller's big expiring and Salmons 4) Not resigning BG 5) Getting rid of Salmons at the dead line 6) Having Lebron lose in the playoffs to a big underdog, especially before the Finals 7) Getting rid of Kirk's terrible contract for nothing but cap space And then you have little things like New Jersey losing the lottery. There's still some land mines to avoid, for sure, and you can't discount the possibility of something materializing out of nowhere (a Chris Paul trade, Dallas getting involved somehow)
  11. Your second point could just as easily be applied to the theory that the Bulls can move Deng to fit two max guys. As for Wade taking meetings, well he's just covering his bases and probably wants to feel courted. I don't expect him to do anything but reup with Miami. Even Duncan took meetings when he was a FA and he was coming off a championship.
  12. 6 months ago that would've been considered fairly successful. So at least the pessimistic scenario is still pretty decent. That's better than a 50 win team too. 2nd or 3rd best in the East on paper if everything else held.
  13. Yes. The difference between Wade and Lebron is not that great and Wade has the Finals MVP already in the bag.
  14. Yeah I know I'm playing arm chair psychologist here but I think it matters to these guys. But there is a novelty to putting Lebron and Wade together that no other team can match so who knows.
  15. From a basketball standpoint Miami makes as much sense as Chicago for Lebron and Bosh to team up. Maybe even more if you think Wade and Lebron will really coexist well together. The difference is if Lebron signs here there's no question who is the alpha dog on the team. That's not the case if he went to Miami.
  16. Wasn't there some ridiculous offseason when Manny, ARod, and Mike Hampton (lol) signed the 3 largest contracts in sports history within a few weeks of each other?
  17. Now that I've had time to stew...that -500 line has to mean something right? But are big insiders going to make a huge bet on this through an online book?
  18. Lebron + Boozer/Amare/Lee is still an overwhelming favorite to win the East, IMO. Maybe if Miami got Bosh and some other pieces but they would be very thin otherwise.
  19. The free agency sports futures betting market is big enough where only insiders can cause dramatic price shifts?
  20. If you think I'm getting carried away just wait until if it actually happens and the "can this team break the 1996 Bulls win records" hype goes through the roof. Remember when the Lakers signed old ass Malone and Payton to join Shaq and Kobe and there was all that greatest team ever talk surrounding them? That's exactly what would happen here except the entire core would be in their physical primes.
  21. I've been following this so closely for a few weeks now that I want to follow them no matter what. But I say that every offseason and then I realize in the fall that I have to actually watch basketball games to be a Bulls fan. Hopefully this fall Bulls basketball will be fun to watch. If the rumors are true...they'll be VERY fun to watch. Rose/LeBron/Deng/Bosh/Noah is as good a starting 5 (probably better) than any in the NBA. If they could actually make the Deng for Pietrus/Gortat swap and add a little depth to the team, that would be even better. I'd love to see them find a shooter to add to the bench or starting two guard with the mid-level. But even without that, they'd have to be in the conversation for the very elite teams in the NBA. That's one of the best starting 5s in league history, let alone now. I would make a 70 win season a goal with that lineup.
  22. It's a lot easier for me to watch .500 basketball than .500 (or worse) baseball. Plus Rose is just a good watch. But yeah I'm ready for the Bulls just to kick everyone's ass again. The sort of ass kicking where a regular season loss ruins my day ala 1996.
  23. Any team would be rightfully pissed for that nonsense.
  24. Yes, with the caveat that Lebron doesn't go to Miami. Adding Lebron and Bosh and you seriously start to entertain breaking the 96 Bulls all time win record and establishing a dynasty but Johnson/Bosh can definitely contend for awhile.
  25. I'm enjoying Chris Broussard clowning the Knicks every chance he gets.
