  1. The Hoff hit number 21 in the 1st inning tonight for Iowa. Colvin is 1-2 with an RBI single so far for Tennessee as well.
  2. Reyes only got through 4 tonight, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs(all earned) 1 walk, and had 6 K's. Morelli had a 2-4 night, with a double and 2 RBI. Mayora went 4 innings, giving up 2 hits, no runs, a walk and 2 K's......Obviously, Morelli already has a thread about him, so he's becoming fairly well-known on the board, but Reyes and Mayora are 2 pitchers down there that we should be keeping an eye on as well anyway. Along with Marcos Perez for sure, who has the best stats of them all. On a side note, I think this has been answered before, but do we know how old Caridad actually is? Is he becoming someone to watch as well? Nice to see Colvin getting AWFULLY close to .250 after tonight anyway. I hope he keeps this up for the rest of the year and salvages something.
  3. Coleman had a decent outing, it appears. 4 innings, 5 hits, 2 runs(1 earned) and 3 K's......
  4. This may be the single most interesting day of pitching for me anyway of the entire year as far as our minors go.
  5. The Hoff has homered his first 3 at bats.
  6. His last 6 outs were ALL strikeouts. :D
  7. Are you guys expecting some sort of huge jump in payroll if Cuban DOES become the owner? I can see one splashy move in his first year, but I don't see the Cubs becoming a 180-200ish mill payroll team anytime soon either...... I kind of expect this upcoming offseason to have little movement whatsoever, partly because I don't think we'll have ownership in place and partly because our payroll will jump up decently without adding anyone. Keeping Dempster and Wood would be all I'd expect anyway and it's possible that doesn't even happen. If Cuban were to add tons of money somewhere, I could see it happen with scouting. I don't really have any complaints with what the Cubs are doing personally(big signees in Pac Rim, numbers in DR basically) but I could see Cuban spending big on the biggest name guys coming out every year. Part of me also thinks that maybe Cuban has had to basically aliviate everyone's fears by promising as much actually, as far as payroll goes. Totally conjecture on my part, partially because when this process started, I thought he had absolutely zero chance and it appears as if he now is definitely in the running at least.......
  8. Has Smith played any 2B at any point? For some reason I thought he had....... And seeing Cashner's lines tonight are extremely disappointing. Hopefully Carpenter makes up for it in a little bit.
  9. Unless one of these guys is moved to a different position, we have a slight logjam at 3B right now. Lansford is holding everyone up as he struggles in AA. Smith finally got to Daytona at least, but he's not going anywhere higher until he gets hot again or next year most likely. Rosa is blocked by Smith and therefore Vitters is blocked by Rosa. I'd like to see Rosa and Vitters find a way to move up within the next few weeks somehow, although short of injury, I'm not really seeing how it can happen.
  10. Colvin wound up 3-5 with 2 homers and 6 RBI. It'd be nice to see him get hot and salvage his season.
  11. Jones is 11-36 with 2 RBI in his last 10 games with one double and 13 K's in that stretch. So, he's kind of cooled off some(although it's still over a .300 BA over his last 10). I didn't realize until I looked him up that he's 6'5, 215....... Atkins is a guy that will probably get a solid look next spring, if you ask me. I feel pretty sure Bruce Miles said it was almost a certainty he'll be added to the 40 man next year. He's just one of those guys that's produced at every level. He's made the All Star game at whatever level he's been at 3 years in a row now. Chen has pitched 5 scoreless for Daytona at this point, by the way.
  12. Nelson Perez has 10 triples in 32 games for Mesa.
  13. We have some very interesting prospects in the low levels right now. I really think that our system is on the upswing again personally. This particular draft looks like it has tons of potential.
  14. Oh OK. I kind of figured but didn't know for sure.
  15. Nick Swisher to the Nats for Hanrahan and Lannen is a possibility?
  16. I was really worried that the Cards would find a way to get Bay, so this is a win-win. Not going to them and also not in Pittsburgh anymore either.
  17. I do think he's an upgrade from Ward. I wouldn't mind it as long as we literally give up nothing to get him. I would like to see us get some insurance for Edmonds, but we're not exactly hurting right now either, so if the prices are too steep and we decide to stand pat, I'll understand for sure.
  18. I'd rank them like this personally in order of preference: 1. Giles 2. DeJesus(very close though due to his contract) 3. Ibanez 4. Gonzalez
  19. Is there a link available somewhere that actually sheds light on what constitutes an A, a B, and what misses completely? I thought I saw it somewhere on here, but can't find it.
  20. I don't know when the Cubs consider it, but I've just given up on his chances of helping the Big Club this season. He's just too messed up to be of any help in the near future. Yeah, that's kind of where I was headed. Even if he straightened things out relatively soon, I don't think anyone could trust him this year on a postseason roster.
  21. At what point do you consider shutting him down for the season?
  22. Anyone listening to Tribune Live? Kap evidently mentioned we were interested in someone other than Ibanez. Teased it though and said they'd talk about it later?
  23. Minor correction: An NL Source reported that two teams are interested in Dunn. Not Two NL teams are interested in Dunn. So, it may be AL teams too. Crud, you're right. I guess I automatically took it to mean 2 NL teams. It'd be nice anyway. Honestly though, I wonder if Jocketty and/or Baker would have an issue dealing with us, even taking the division factor out? Anyone have any idea whether or not Hendry and Jocketty have any sort of history together?
  24. Probably has been mentioned somewhere, but I can't find it right now. Anyway, Heyman says 2 NL teams(unnamed) are interested in Dunn. I apologize if this is somewhere else, but figure it's probably noteworthy at the least.
  25. There must really be something we don't know about Dunn, for him to evidently have little to no takers out there. Either the asking price is through the roof, he's injured, he's a "clubhouse cancer", he's slept with every GM's wife, he's not even truly available or something else. But, there almost HAS to be something, right?
