  1. If its literally just Dewitt coming back, I think this board will explode.
  2. It'd be a great return for Ted, no doubt.......But I'm hoping that we go after AGon or Fielder this offseason or the following one, if either make to FA......Plus, Dunn wouldn't be a bad fit either. I guess I'm hoping for one of their arms, if we make a deal with them. Miller, Martin, or Withrow. My guess for a trade with the dodgers though: James McDonald and Allen Webster. And I'm perfectly fine with that.
  3. Why doesn't some contender move in on this if that's all it takes to get Johnson?
  4. Stark just said on Twitter not to expect a deal tonight, but talks are moving in a "positive" direction. Whatever that means......
  5. Berkman would command 15 mill or so through arb. No one would be willing to sign him to a longterm deal and give up picks. Unfortunately, this is what baseball has come to, over the last few years. No one else can compete with the Yanks when it comes to money and in this economy, they can buy themselves into deals like this every deadline, if they choose to and won't have to worry about giving up decent players in return, since money has become such an issue for quite a few teams.
  6. Please trade for Z and pick up his contract KW.....That would get the WOW you are looking for.
  7. I don't really think there's a correlation here. If there was a trade involving those 2 guys and Theriot was pulled, why would DeWitt have been allowed to play probably 4-5 innings more at that point? There may be a trade, but I don't think THIS was anything more than a coincidence.
  8. Just looked at their boxscore and it seems innocent enough. Doubleswitch in the 6th with pitchers spot due to leadoff for Dodgers. And DeWitt had already K'd in both of his at bats.
  9. Right after the draft, Shafer said he had expected to go somewhere between rounds 10-20. He also said he was expecting to go back to Valpo. The Cubs had told him they wouldn't make an offer unless he pitched well in the Cape Cod League, so my guess is we had to at least give him SOMETHING decent......
  10. I'm waiting for a Major League 2 scenario where the Cubs just start beating the crap out of each other and the umps call the game......
  11. Apparently KW traded for Jackson with the intent of moving him for Dunn(as had been reported earlier) but Rizzo now says he doesn't want Jackson, leaving KW holding the proverbial bag....... It'd be fascinating to see what kind of ethics are involved as far as GMing goes, but it seems like you don't tell someone to trade for a player and then decide not to really like that player after all......
  12. For what it's worth, during yesterday's game between The Pads and Dodgers, Coletti was on-air and said he didn't see ANYONE available that would make him think of parting with his best prospects......Obviously, could be posturing and all, but if so, it's kind of a dumb way to treat any fans who know anything about the minors, if you DO go out and overpay for someone.
  13. And Cashner's ERA is fast approaching 6 now......
  14. Honestly, I have ZERO faith that we'll do the right thing here, in any way, shape, or form. If we don't get enough for him in trade and keep him, we'll either re-sign him to a multi year deal or not offer arbitration.
  15. I'd figure the other guy would be Fontenot, but seriously, is there much of a difference between him and DeWitt?
  16. In a perfect world, I'd say Jose Reyes. I just find it really hard to believe they would use him as trade bait. Furcal is getting older and his contract is up after next season, which is probably perfect for Gordon, who should be ready by opening day 2012 at the latest. If I'm going to buy in to the Dodgers actually sending us one of their best propects, I'm going to say it'd be Aaron Miller. But, my gut tells me we'll be lucky to get an Allen Webster out of them. And I'd still be happy with that myself.
  17. If things worked out perfectly, Gordon could slide to 2B.......He has lots of upside, he hasn't played baseball all that long. Personally, I'll be shocked if we get that kind of return for Lilly and Theriot......
  18. In value, the Twins overpaid it seems, but the Nats already have a very solid catching prospect in Norris, who's going to be ready next year anyway.
  19. First off, I think you're overrating Castro. Anyways, Lake is slugging .610 in the second half. In the FSL. That tells you all you need to know about his power potential. \Just curious, but what's your upside for Castro at this point?
  20. Personally, I think the D-Backs did better than the Astros did. Which doesn't bode well for us with Lilly. If I thought Hendry actually WOULD offer arbitration, I'd be pulling for that scenario right now.
  21. I'm not expecting as much now as far as prospects go honestly. Reason being is simple: There aren't as many bidders now, as teams have either made moves already or fallen out of the race. Plus, while Lilly may be the best of what's left, he's not SO MUCH better that some team will overpay to get him instead of Maholm, Carmona, Westbrook, Edwin Jackson, and whoever else may be available right now......
  22. Instead of Colvin at 1B next year, assuming we don't sign someone, how about Soto at 1B? We have Castillo and Chirinos in the minors and it's more likely to me anyway that one of them can put up numbers that are OK at the C spot than it is for Colvin to do so at 1B...... My gut tells me we re-sign Lee for 1-6 or so, if we can't figure out a way to get Fielder or A-Gon, who I feel is new managements first splash waiting to happen.......
  23. Really? After the graduations we've had this year, I think the Dodgers clearly have the better system at the moment personally......
  24. I have a feeling that if we are going to deal with the Dodgers, we'll get back one of Elbert or McDonald as the key piece. :(
