  1. Toonster, his brother said they told him 10 minutes beforehand when he was pitching, and didn't give him time to get loose. Probably a poor time for KG to see him honestly.
  2. I asked Badler if there was a chance Candelario could make their top 100 or if it was too soon and he said it was quite possible. Conceivably, BA could have Baez, Soler, Almora, Brett, Szczur, and Candelario on their end of the year top 100. Not to mention the possibility of what we could possibly pull off for Garza or maybe if we got lucky, even Dempster.
  3. When I was like 15 and played fantasy baseball I traded Barry Bonds for some sort of Jeremy Giambi/Jeff Kent/Jason Isringhausen combo. Yes, Jeremy. Not Jason. Good move. My freshman year of college, I got Emmitt Smith for 4 soft tacos. Trade was allowed, as I was the commish.
  4. That's actually posted in our IFA signings thread that's stickied.
  5. Vogelbach with a double, goes 2-4, in his debut. Gretzky just pinch ran for him.
  6. I don't know the cutoff date, but I know you can't sign until you're actually 16. There's been kind of a second signing period, where lots of guys sign in November. My guess is lots of these guys have later birthdays. And yeah, you can definitely gain velo at his age, my main concern, rightly or wrongly, is the height. Of course, he could still grow too, for all we know. Admittedly, I've fallen into the trap of only wanting taller pitchers, unless they throw serious heat. And I know I shouldn't look at it that way.
  7. Amaya with a 4-4, 2 steal game for Boise.
  8. hell i hopped on that bandwagon after his second start. didn't know what his signing bonus was but sometimes you can hit it big on those raw lower bonus guys (castro, pie). nice to see him pitching so well against older competition and missing plenty of bats. He's smallish(under 6ft) and doesn't hit 90. More of a "knows how to pitch) guy. Keeps me from getting too excited over him. Your other guy is the one I want to know more about. Paulino is 6'2 at least, so he's got a projectable frame. No one has answered a question from me yet on him, so I've got no clue what he throws. But he's the pitcher, for now anyway, until we find out stuff, to keep an eye on down there.
  9. Yeah. The talk early in the season was if Shark looked like he's a TOR guy, it could speed up the rebuild process, because we'd have two very solid starters. If this thing is going to take another 2-3 years, my guess is Theo trades Garza, instead of paying him 45 mill or so in seasons which we aren't contending, then paying him another 45 mill or so for his 32-34 year old seasons once we're contending.
  10. Well, there's certainly a learning curve with Shark. Hopefully he gets back in a good groove soon. But it looks like he's making Theo's decision on what to do with Garza a little easier.
  11. Vogelbach singled in his first at bat of the season.
  12. let the hype begin. Begin? I think there were a lot of us who were considering putting him top 10 last year. Of course that was more an indictment of the farm and a guy who had plate discipline in farm filled with free swingers. I stand by yesterday's comment, as far as position prospects go the Cub's farm can compete with any other team. I need someone with far more knowledge on this to help me out here. How excited should I be now about this guy? I want to be fired up. Ben Badler thought he was the top prospect in the DSL last year. He's 18 and was born in New York, but moved to the Dominican. BA just said if he were in this draft, he'd have been a 1st rounder. Solid fielder, but definitely could outgrow 3B, could end up in LF or at 1B. Great discipline, switch hitter. Has far more pop as a lefty. Thought he'd grow into some power. This is probably a bit unexpected. Great numbers in DSL last year, great numbers in EXST this year, AZPhil thought he had legit chance to start season in Peoria. Got a 500K bonus from us when he signed.

  15. Badler said he's got a report coming soon. He says to temper expectations. On cell, so can't link, but all sorts of funny [expletive] happened at his workout today. Was late to his workout, due to being in a different country. Changed agents, then apparently changed back. Showed up couple hours late, after some scouts had hopped on plane heading to a different country to see him there.
  16. Yeah, that's me asking Law. Was hoping he had been under the radar this season.
  17. Cuban lefty we gave 850K bonus to a couple of years ago. Don't remember much about his stuff, other than it was considered average.
  18. Del Valle's outing is done. 6 perfect, 11 K's. Wow.
  19. Onelkis Garcia signed with the Dodgers for a tad UNDER 3rd round slot. Badler said he may be better than Concepcion. Guess the rumors were way off on him.
  20. That's awesome. My dad lives in Poquoson now actually.
  21. I look at Torreyes K rate as being excellent. Even in June, it's 7 times in 56 at bats. May was 1 time in 73 at bats, and he somehow only managed 10 hits for a .137 BA. April was 7 times in 73 at bats too, so if anything June just seems like he's coming back down to normal a bit, but it's excellent altogether, considering his age and being in high A ball.
  22. I thought about including some of the big bonus guys, but they're so far away. AZPhil's reports on Malave seemed very encouraging, but I just didn't think we have nearly enough to go on yet. And I've asked Badler more than once about Jose Paulino, but can't get an answer. Acosta and Marcano, maybe Baez, all figure to be in Arizona for good by this time next year as well, but I doubt we have a guy from there this year we want to include in our top 30's, so I left them off completely.
  23. If he geys back up to 92 or so, I guess he needs to be on our radar, but this definitely seems like a little poke from BA to me.
