I looked thru our schedule and tried to project Ohtani's likely playing time. If we use him every 6th day, with the rest of the rotation pitching regularly, then this is how the starts panned out.... Lester and Hendricks get 31, Quintana gets 30, Ohtani and Cobb or whoever get 29. And our 6th guy would project for 12. I actually really like that scenario. From a hitting standpoint, if you figure he sits the day before and day after he pitches, it leaves him with 84 opportunities to start in the field. Granted, maybe he sits versus lefties? If so, I guess you could subtract 15-20 starts from that total. Even if its the high end though, he'd start 64 times, plus 29 more while pitching. Add in pinch hitting most games.....Its definitely possible to find him 350-400 PA..... Starts by position.....Example obviously C Contreras-122, Backup-40, 1B Rizzo-152, Schwarber-10 2B Javy-90, Zobrist-40, Happ-27, Seal Boy-5 SS Addy-130, Javy-32 3B KB-152, Seal Boy-10 LF Schwarber-100, Zobrist-25, Happ-25, Almora-12 CF Almora-90, Heyward-45, Happ-27 RF Heyward-70, Ohtani-65, Happ-15, Zobrist-12 DH Seal Boy-5, Schwarber-4 Total Starts 152- Rizzo, KB 130-Addy 122- Javy 122- Contreras 115- Heyward 114- Schwarber 102- Almora 96- Happ 77- Zobrist 65- Ohtani 40- Backup C 20- Seal Boy There's plenty of AB's to go around for everyone, even with Ohtani being added to things, with no subtractions.
