  1. Not advocating it, but I wouldn't miss an inning next year, even if it won under 70 games.
  2. Soler BOMB
  3. Kris Bryant isn't wrecking the game, he is the mother [expletive] game He might be ready to start for the Cubs now. Too much? They won't let him, but I honestly think he'd put up the highest OPS on the Cubs next year. And Javy likely would put up the 2nd highest.
  4. Bryant with a second 2B.....Soler GIDP.
  5. Almora is 0-2 with a BB, Bryant is 1-2 with a 2B, and Soler is 0-1 with a BB.
  6. Ricketts would have to have the balls to successfully get leverage by threatening to leave the city. Ricketts would have to have the resources and acumen to make that threat credible before his balls would matter, and he doesn't. Not to mention he's been buying up properties that would lose value immediately with a move. He doesn't have the ability to just write them off. We needed a Dodgers ownership group has [expletive] you money laying around. Instead we've got a bunch of spoiled kids using their dads allowance money.
  7. I'm not sure if I'd want Zimmer or Ventura as the lead piece. I lean Ventura honestly. Duffy as a second piece would be great though.
  8. Ozzie evidently mentioned he wants on our staff. Even as a 3rd Base Coach. With the supposed want for 2-3 Latin coaches, I'm actually not totally opposed to that.
  9. Fly out to deep center in his 2nd AB.
  10. As will Javy.
  11. I honestly don't care. They're not going to hire a complete idiot. And whoever they hire, we'll question tons of in-game moves anyway. I would have been intrigued if it was Girardi, just because I would have been thinking to get him, they would have promised more of an immediate ascent. And it may have had an effect on our offseason plans.
  12. I kind of expect him to make it to the majors before Javy and have a more immediate impact. Not that I think the gap is that large. I want to see them brought up at the exact same time. Maybe help deflect the pressure a bit?
  13. I'm not sure I can have higher expectations than what I do for Javy and Bryant.
  14. Double off the wall for Bryant in 1st AB today.
  15. CJ named Milb pitcher of the year. Kyle Hendricks finished 2nd. Kinda cool.
  16. I just saw the lightbulb in Hendry 's head flicker.
  17. Damn, I posted those numbers thinking I'd be fairly close if he DID hit the open market at 26. Personality has zero to do with my thinking. But you'd almost have to give out the long ass deal like that, in my mind. You could defer some or whatever, but even at those figures, he'd provide excess value for half the deal or so, based on what he's doing now. I figure the power would go up, he likely steals less, but the D still is excellent. Iconic personality? David summed it up best with "dafuq", if you ask me.
  18. If Trout hits FA at 26......15/450?
  19. Tanaka's posting + first year might be a push. Damn, that was my thought as well.
  20. I know the consensus had been around 5 mill per win, but hasn't there recently been studies it's closer to 7? With the infusion of cash-I'm with Kyle. Think we'll see it raised again.
  21. By the way, I'm ready for PoorTomRicketts to confront NotTomRicketts.
  22. I seriously doubt anyone here is sorry they "missed out" on Lincecum...the worry is that his deal is indicative of how much money is going to be tossed around. Well yeah. Every team just got a 25 mill bump. Yet the supposed most profitable team this past year appears to be using theirs to offset the revenue loss from attendance, that's basically the same number.(going off idea our payroll is staying around the same) If that's the case, grab a star and make one good trade to cover that difference. Don't Hendry it away with a 3 mill backup C, a pair of 2.5 mill middle infielders, 2 mill on a righty hitting OFer, a 4 mill LOOGY, 8 mill for a closer, and 2 4 mill 6th starters....
  23. Passing on Lincecum types at that money is smart. But if we overpay for Choo, Cano, Ellsbury, even McCann-I'm fine with it. Conceivably, as a large market team, especially one with as many cheap, cost controlled players as we're about to have....The back ends of those contracts shouldn't hurt us at all. And while this group may not look like total world beaters, it's just getting worse every year. If our perceived window doesn't actually open up til 2016, a Cano at 33 is still likely to give 2-3 4+WAR seasons from that point forward. If his contract in 2019-2022 sucks complete ass, who cares? He's hopefully helped big time in a few of our contending years....
  24. The Dodgers are in, Texas and Seattle too- both with solid success previously in this market. Throw in the Yankees and this is going to get crazy. FYI on Yankees- they spent 60 mill in luxury tax money last year and are trying to get back to 189 this year to restart their luxury tax clock. Not because of cheapness, but because they're paying a ridiculous percentage of overage and want it go back to step 1. They just sold off 49% of the YES Network, so they have cash from that laying around. They'll have the 25 mill stipend from MLB too. The posting fee does NOT count against the luxury tax threshold either. And they have a definitive need, both for pitching and added excitement due to an aging team. No one, other than the Dodgers can compete with a desperate Yankees team. And the Dodgers aren't in any real need for Tanaka-the Yanks are. I 'd definitely take the over at 60 mill on the posting fee. And I won't blink if its over 80.
