  1. Craig, I'll be extremely surprised if Bryant doesn't start in Tennessee at this point. Not that it'd be a HUGE difference-maker, but it'd allow Candelario 3B in Daytona as well.
  2. He did. But he came back towards the end of last season and looked great. Throwing upper 90's with a plus curve.
  3. Whats the initial reports on Zastryzyny, Skulina, Masek, and Frazier look like? Heard very good things on Blackburn at different points in the year, what's going on with his command? Any info on Jimenez, Torres, Mejia and Tseng coming out of Instructs? Is it looking like all 4 will begin year in Arizona?
  4. I honestly think Giolito WOULD be in play, but if I'm a Nats fan, I'd want a better pitcher than Shark for me to give him up. The risk of him turning into Verlander wouldn't let me part with him unless it was for something elite.
  5. Cutler week to week with his high ankle sprain. With 5 wins already and a solid backup QB, we're heading right back to 7-9 or 8-8.
  6. Pretty sure its 130 at bats. Plate appearances don't matter.
  7. Cole has no injury flags, his knock is weak secondary pitches.
  8. I'll be very surprised if Javy has not used up his rookie eligibility by then. KB is 50/50 for me as well.
  9. Like I mentioned in the other thread, Cole/Giolito is a great start. Whether the 3rd piece is Goodwin, who has big upside or multiple pitchers from Purke/Karns/Solis, I think they could do it. If for no other reason than Giolito has the ability to be the top pitching prospect in the minors at this time next year.
  10. So Arguello said one source tells him expect the Nats to make an offer he can't see the Cubs turning down.....What would that contain, I wonder? Cole/Giolito/Goodwin? If offered all 3, I agree. Short of that though, I'm not seeing the pieces to make that happen. Maybe replace Goodwin with 2 of Karns/Solis/Purke.....
  11. I was thinking you'd use Castillo as a piece in a Price deal. Personally, I could see him as a major piece to get Matt Moore. Velo has dropped some, control hasn't come around yet......
  12. Castillo for A-ball pitcher(s) Cheap veterans to replace him I know you don't really think thats what they'd do. If Castillo is dealt, I suspect it'd be for a ML ready starter or someone already there with control.
  13. I think Olt plays 1B if Rizzo needs a day off. Definitely add a backup C. I think Bogusevic is on the Opening Day roster instead of Schierholtz, who I see being dealt. Don't see much action on Russell and I think Rondon will make the pen. Do see Shark being dealt. Roster Position players- Castillo, Jose Molina, Rizzo, Barney, Castro, Olt, Valbuena, Murphy, Lake, Sweeney, Bogusevic, Chris Young, Lorenzo Cain SP- E-Jax, Wood, Arrieta, Suk Min Yoon,Yordany Ventura Pen- Strop, Kelvin Herrera, Villanueva, Russell, Grimm, Rondon, Parker Trade of Shark and Schierholtz for Cain, Herrera, Ventura, and Almonte. 6 new guys, in the end. Plus, a few moves that take Vitters and Brett off the Cubs.
  14. I want Tanaka as much as the next guy, but not for a $75+ million posting fee Why? Not that we can afford it, but I wouldn't care if we won the bid at 100 mill+, it's a one time fee. Granted, a 100 mill fee would also mean a 100 mill contract for him, but finding TOR types at his age are very rare opportunities. Don't most guys think Tanaka is more of a middle of the rotation guy than a TOR guy on a good team? I agree that if he truly is a TOR guy it's worth it I just thought I've heard he isn't quite there, maybe I'm wrong. The comp used most often and not because of heritage, is Kuroda. Semantic debate aside, maybe he's not a TOR guy, but definitely a frontline guy at least.
  15. Hoyer said Cubs will be in on Tanaka with Kaplan tonight. I'll try not to hold my breath on this one.
  16. Wow, so to sum up, we're gun shy based on Castro and Rizzo's performances, therefore another Scott Baker-type offseason, except without the Edwin Jackson type signing? Hello 85 mill payroll!

  18. Theo: "It takes great courage to be patient."
  19. I think Santana is extremely overrated, but it's not going to shock me if he gets 5/75 or slightly more. I take comfort in knowing our FO wouldn't do THAT. But I understand the lack of availability makes it imperative to give an extra year or two and maybe a mill or three more per year to get a guy you actually want.
  20. In some tweets to Tom Loxas, Kasper doesn't see the Cubs making big moves this offseason. "The plan is the plan."
  21. Oh God, autograph signings or shows......Bo Jackson signed a ball for the guy in front of me at a show in Charlotte, rolled it off the table hard, smeared the ball in the process, and when the guy complained, BO KNOWS......Leaving. Didn't come back either. A buddy and me were in Atlanta for a Super Bowl Upper Deck party and saw Mike Piazza. Some kid ran up to him and asked for his autugraph. He started to sign, but the pen ran out of ink. He looked at the kid and goes "Well God damn!" He asked for another pen and while the kids dad was looking for one, one of the hottest chicks I've ever seen walked by......Piazza then said "Kid, I'm not a dick, your dad understands" and ran up to the chick, introducing himself. Shaq, at an autograph show, had to put up with some elderly dude yelling "Wilt Chamberlain would have owned your ass" for at least the entire hour I was in line. Alonzo Mourning signed at a Montgomery Ward Department Store while I was in college and left in the middle of it to use the bathroom, but ended up nailing a frat brother of mine's GF instead.
  22. What do you mean by this? It's in the contract, according to Levine, they can't bring in an outside source through the entire CSN deal. According to a pair of the knowledgable guys at PSD, its only true if WGN decides they can't pay at least what the "fair market value price" is, which was given to them on Tuesday. Tribune today said that it was the higher of "fair market value" appraised and a pre-written level in the contract, and in this case the pre-written value is higher. Hmm, not sue if thats good or bad then. Would WGN overpay to keep it?

  24. Ervin Santana wants 5/100+, Nolasco 5/80......Shark's value, rising.
