  1. Mystery injury? Villanueva or Edwin being the candidates?
  2. Marty on Twitter talking fast food is awesome.
  3. Granted, it's a major league discussion, but Strop, Rondon, and Grimm are all very impressive at times. I guess I lump Schlitter and Parker together, but I'd probably bet one of them can become a long term contributor. Then we have Vizcaino, Rivero, and Ramirez all with good chances of helping this year and in the future. Rosscup too. I LOVE our pen moving forward.
  4. So many activities! He'd be a great backup, if we could get him. I'd take him over McCown every day of the week. Really? He looked awful last year in Minny. Funny bad.... With Trestman? I definitely think he's got more talent than McCown. He's got to red educate himself obviously. Side note-Biggs just mentioned we signed some long snapper to a 3 year deal that played under Trestman in the CFL.
  5. So many activities! He'd be a great backup, if we could get him. I'd take him over McCown every day of the week.
  6. They'll replace him with Masterson, in my opinion. That basically would take up Soriano's money that comes off the books and what Shark is making this year.
  7. It's pretty easy to see the discrepancy here. Cubs are offering money based on what he'd get if he went to arb, Shark wants money as if he's a FA during those 2 arb years(now 1) because he wants something in return for signing with a non contender. No ones likely low balling or asking for too much. Easy to see both sides.
  8. DREAM (Debt Rules Everything Around Me)
  9. There's Emery's Slauson type move of the offseason.
  10. http://www.csnchicago.com/cubs/would-selling-cubs-shares-do-anything-theos-rebuild If you think Wittenmyer is a back, here's Mooney mentioning the FO's frustration and starting to see this is just how things are going to be.
  11. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/26643690-419/cubs-might-be-six-years-away-from-big-market-spending.html Just 6 more years til we have money to spend!
  12. Hoffman evidently motioned Rice to leave the field after the 6th.
  13. A really short guy that throws mid to upper 90's and will likely be a back end of the pen type for the Reds soon. He's made some top 100 lists prior to this past offseason.
  14. Best defensive SS in our system. Gap power, good discipline, no real HR power. But a solid enough hitter.
  15. A guy like Mejia has plenty of upside. Penalver should have been voted in at least 10 spots ago. Trey Martin certainly has major league potential. Same with Balaguert. Paulino just got very solid reviews in the DSL at a young age. To say no one left has a real shot is just wrong.
  16. The White Sox supposedly are looking for a college pitcher. Law guesses they'd take Hoffman over Beede or Rodon. And said it in a way that he'd do the same. So, if you try and connect a few dots here, Rodon seems almost likely to be sitting there at 4. Astros supposedly looking at Aiken, Marlins connected to Kolek. If we're choosing between Rodon and Beede at 4, I'll be pretty [expletive] happy. At this EXACT moment though, I think my order of preference is.... Kolek, Rodon, Aiken, Beede, and Hoffman.
  17. Black tweeted he's coming out of the pen Saturday. No idea whether to read anything into that or not. He dot, dot, dotted it though, so I'm guessing he's unhappy?
  18. It sure sounded like Latos did it on purpose. In his mind, Bryant shouldn't have swung at a 3-0 meatball.
  19. Crushes HR on 11th pitch of tough AB He still sucks balls.
  20. I'm having that "hang around .500 until reinforcements arrive" dream again. They'll sell off at 10 under and finish .500 anyway.
  21. Not surprising at all.
  22. Damn, I agree with every bit of that.
  23. It's because of seasons like that, that I DO continue to follow. Because it lets you imagine how great it'd be to go all the way. But the other part of me just checks off another year where it didn't happen.
  24. When the Cubs win it all, I may be able to enjoy winning seasons that don't result in a championship. I think 03 and 04 totally changed my mentality.
