  1. Hoyer said on Kap and Haugh that the Schwarber announcement should come today.
  2. I'd hold tight. His awesomeness may very well be due to the tinyface talk. Perhaps you have some Kyle-like powers? I think tinyface needs to continue myself.
  3. Cantu is waiting. Yags posted an article, he's excited, needs to figure out what he wants to do. But Cubs have told him offer will come later, as they have to figure out how much money they'll be able to allot for him. Personally, it's good news to know he's not just dead-set on school.
  4. Reid-Foley signed at slot. 1.128 mill. Can't wait to see what kind of numbers come in on our guys, to see the various combos you could make to equal our slot amount.
  5. Lopez deserves a shot at the backup job. Remillard has some upside. Contreras has the most potential of the group, in my mind. To me, he's the only one with a semi-decent chance at becoming a regular(still under 25%for me)
  6. This stuff fascinates me UK. In a typical year, how many players does an area scout see? From there, how many does he wind up seeing multiple times? Does the area scout find out monetary demands or does he turn that over to a cross checker? On a different topic, do teams employ a completely different set of scouts to focus on the minors than on the draft? Same with the majors?
  7. Thanks UK. By the way, a poster on PSD mentioned he spoke with Skoug's mom and she mentioned the Cubs called prior to round 3, but they wanted more money than what was offered.
  8. Pretty informative piece. Soler's a few weeks away. Schwarber will be catching some and playing OF....... Did I hear that right? 15 area scouts and 8 cross checkers? Seems awfully low on the number of area scouts, doesn't it? Its similar with the area guys but above avg. with the national guys. 8 is pretty high. Just curious, but I'd assume Florida and California have multiple scouts covering those states? And they're considered the best jobs in the scouting community? More talent, less travel basically. With some of the Midwest and Northeast jobs being the worst. Less talent, much more talent..... Correct or way off?
  9. The thing about the leagues is they get harder as you move up. Isn't he a slow starter? And [expletive] YEAH Javy!
  10. I think Alcantara, Hendricks, Vizcaino, and Rivero are the only prospects we have that will see the majors for the first time this year. Maybe Villanueva, if he heats up.....
  11. [expletive]. Just [expletive]. Lol.
  12. I asked Badler and he basically said no scout sees Castillo and Carbonell in the same light. Castillo is the superior player.
  13. I expect Malave to become a fair offensive player sooner or later.
  14. Trevor Cahill DFA'd by Arizona. I'm somewhat interested here. Even if we have to pick up some of the contract.
  15. Maybe this is elsewhere, but I haven't seen it. Trevor Clifton tweeted he's been promoted, which is pretty cool. In my opinion, he's the best hope of any of last years drafted arms. [expletive], maybe the only hope based on early season results anyway.

  17. i don't think it's as simple as want or don't want, it's about getting a haul for him or not getting a haul for him. I think the FO knows how risky it is, trading for pitching prospects. No, it doesn't keep them from dealing for them, but I think it drives up the price. The first part of why I think he may stay is no one will meet our price. Secondly, I truly do think the FO would like to keep him. And before giving him true "ace" money, I think they want to see him perform as one. Which leads us to part 3, which is a problem currently. I doubt Shark wants to be here. But he did at one time and his mind can change again. KB and Javy could help change his mind. So could spending some money this offseason. In the end, I just think things come together at some point in the offseason. No one meets our price at the deadline, we make a move or two, he gets happy again, we budge in contract talks, he re-signs.....
  18. Willis is on the fence and is thinking things through.
  19. At no point did I say that either. But when any team gets caught, there shouldn't be shock, appalment or anything else. But any holier than thou, "we're clean, we deserve it" talk is [expletive] stupid. If we get caught, it'll suck for me. Just as if another team gets caught, it'll suck for their fanbase. I find it hard to believe anyone disagrees with this.
  20. So what? Are you trying to say your program is clean then? My whole point is EVERYONE does it. It was Doherty's fault for recruiting someone that makes it more likely to get caught. You're the one being naive here.
  21. Craig, you may be right on the Schwarber bonus. My personal over/under is 3.3. Over and I'm slightly disappointed. For Stinnett, it's 850k.
  22. While I think that most programs operate in a shady area, when stuff like this comes out the NCAA has to take a stand and do something. If they don't punish UNC for this, how in the hell can you ever punish any program for academic wrong doing? If they find it, I agree. And I think they'll find it honestly. But you can't just go take some bat [expletive] crazy person like Rashad's word for it. The fact that he is a crazy idiot is the most damning thing of all for UNC. Roy saw this, knew what was happening, and was like "I'm good." The fact that davell is blaming the head coach of the Sudan national team at this point goes to show just how weird and out of touch UNC fans are. Ahhhh, Sulley trying to be a douche? Weird and out of touch, huh? Instead of attempting to be a smart ass, READ what I wrote in my post where you so douchily thanked me for posting something of no interest to you. Rashad was there when Roy was hired. He was an inherited issue from Doherty. Not sure why that's hard to comprehend. Roy has plenty of [expletive] to take blame on. This isn't one of them.
  23. McLeod's comments on Cease(Sands and Steele too) very much imply we're expecting them all to sign. I DO think that some of these HS kids we took late are there in case we miss on Cease. But, I do kind of expect one of them to sign, hoping for 2. Figuring we'll have the 5% money mostly go towards one of them, the rest going to Brink. The key is whether or not the savings on our early rounders is completely taken up by the 4-6 round guys. That's where I think it's possible to come up with another signing from the HS late rounders. Especially reading Cease's Twitter feed.
