  1. Liberatore to Tampa. Still have Singer and Gorman out there. McClanahan is extremely interesting too, as a guy who's dropped due to recent performance.
  2. Rodriguez at 11 and evidently Groshans is going 12. WTF is going on? There's not enough guys to save for. These teams are not smart.
  3. And God bless those players, because NONE of them want to go to Baltimore.
  4. Murray at 9. Wow. Some pitching is dropping.
  5. Stewart just said "I'm trying to stay calm. Trying to stay posed."
  6. The interview asking Bohm which NL East stud pitcher he wants to take deep first was cringe worthy. If they want to grow this, they've got so much work to do......
  7. FG just did a last minute draft(43 picks) and had Cubs with Steele Walker. Gotta admit, that would be fairly deflating to me. Even if I suspect he winds up a solid player.
  8. I'd be fine with Kowar or Gilbert. I'd take a shot on McClanahan, if he fell to us too. But, I fully expect a High School hitter.
  9. I can see that. I'm sure they'll draft an upside guy at some point. Honestly, there may not be one you've gotta jump on at 62. Lots of those guys are kind of jumbled, in my mind.
  10. Rolison is my worst case scenario. Or very close anyway. All day yesterday, I was thinking Edwards was our guy. But seeing Callis and Law mock Seigler to us today, has me figuring it's him. Callis usually gets the Cubs right, doesn't he?
  11. Just listened to Kiley and Longenhagen's podcast. Some interesting things in it.... UVA teaches pitchers to do this crouch thing and also throw a ton of breaking balls. Lunch has risen boards, in part, because he's been very obstinate when it comes to these things. Kiley says there's an advisor of a high end recruit, currently set to go to UVA, that's advising him not to. With hitting, they evidently teach the Stanford swing, no loft, just trying to poke things thru infields...... Not really a college baseball guy, just repeating info. They said there's 5 or 6 tough signs, among high schoolers. Rocker wants around top 15 money. But, they didn't act as if he wouldn't get it either. Mike Siani, a UVA guy, evidently is a tough sign. As is Matt McLain, if he's not taken in the top 40, or given that type of money..... If McClanahan drops, it's because teams in the 10-25 range didn't really see him much. He was a top 5 guy most of the year, so many teams weren't at his starts when he was going well. Now that he's struggling, the middle teams have seen him, but don't have enough looks from his good starts, to likely just take a shot..... Hence, why if he drops, it's probably pretty far.
  12. ODLC goes 6 3 1 1 1 7. He seems to be settling in pretty well at AA now.
  13. He's been sitting 92-94 in at least some starts. I thought he was a bit slower than that (more 90-93). Hmm, I might be getting him confused with Abbott. I thought I remembered seeing that on him too though. Oh well, if it is 90-93, it still plays so far. He's definitely made a ton of progress.
  14. He's been sitting 92-94 in at least some starts. Still some chance he adds some velo? hes young and kinda thin right? Eh, he's not really young. He'll turn 25 in September. But, he did add velo this year, so who knows, I guess? At any rate, 92-94 is just fine anyway. He definitely needs to be moved to Tennessee.
  15. He's been sitting 92-94 in at least some starts.
  16. Meh, there's hundreds of guys who fit due just how nebulous upside is and they'll be able fit in a couple who fit that description no matter what they do at 24. Between the guys they have coming in for workouts, guys with weaker commits to relatively uncompetitive programs and college players with bit upside like that LHP Lopez, and the words from FO personnel about how this budget makes them players for the higher upside HS guys up top it seems like they're aiming for a potential stud. The chances of finding one, while not impossible, shrinks dramatically outside the first. OTOH I'm just pretending to read tea leaves aka talking out my ass No, I'm reading the same tea leaves. Where we differ, I guess, is I'm ok with ANY of that group at 24. I don't see enough separation to pay more for a singular kid in that group. I'd take the cheapest one, so I have more for the lotto tickets later. If the FO decides otherwise and pays up for a guy in the 1st, I'll be excited. Because I figure they obviously are sold on a guy. But, if they're of the opinion that these guys(maybe even add a few I forgot) are close, then I'd hope they save money for more kids later.
  17. Yeah, I kind of think we go HS in the 1st at this point. I just don't want to go way over slot at 24, when there's going to be many other HS kids with upside to take with our next few picks too. No one likely available at 24 is worth more than slot plus overage, AT MOST, in my mind. And if it comes down to a group of guys like Denaburg, Rocker, Rodriguez, Schnell, Edwards, Hankins, Turang, Naylor, and Groshans, then I'm taking whoever will sign for slot or less. I'd be happy with any of that group and extra money to spend later.
  18. They took Tanner Dodson at 78 and HS OF Ryder Green at 98. I would be ok with this if you've got money to grab another solid HS arm in the 4th, with plenty available. Even if it means senior signs in 7-10 or 8-10. Walker falling that far is a steal. Personally, I'd be ok with taking a guy like him, Jenista, Hannah or someone at a discount at 24 and going big on HS guys at 62, 77, and 78.
  19. For anyone who doesn’t know, Borden is (well, was...he just graduated) one of my students/players. Just curious, but have scouts asked you questions about him? If so, is it general stuff or do they get pretty in-depth with their digging?
  20. He got the glitch fixed. He's got prep righty Lyon Richardson at 62 for us. So, 2 college and 2 HS. 2 pitchers, 2 hitters. 1 college hitter and pitcher, same with HS. Not sure I'm in love with the names involved, but I love the strategy and equal parts hitting and pitching.
  21. Kiley and Longenhagen just put out a 2 round mock. Its missing our pick at 62 somehow..... 24) Daniel Lynch 77) Will Banfield 78) Gage Canning
