  1. Yeah, I could tell that Gammons was hedging a bit (after stating that it was basically over). The Cards might pull it off with the fifth year addition and other incentives. They just have to hope that the Blue Jays aren't willing to outbid them at any cost. I have a feeling they will outbid the Cards. :D
  2. If he's anything like his brother, he'd... ah, never mind. :) Lets just keep our fingers crossed on that one
  3. Would be a slap in the face for Todd too. Cards? YUCK
  4. I hope that we can all laugh about this next week. This will be the most important Winter Meetings that this franchise has had in years, maybe decades. I agree. I think Hendry is going to do something huge. He did not get Furcal, I think we will have 1, maybe 2 Huge trades. Gotta do something.
  5. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I REPEAT NOOOOOOOOOOOO
  6. Oh, I agree. I actually just posted that. But i'd still be all giddy like a school girl for any of the three. I'd take any of the three, but I think Manny would add a little zest to the team. And 20 million dollars to the payroll. Give or take....depending on what the Sox are willing to eat. I'm sure they would eat some, just not sure how much.

  8. Bobby Abreu: Career - .303/.411/.512 23HR 95RBI (HR and RBI are 162 game avg's) 2005 - .286/.405/.474 24HR 102RBI Manny Ramirez: Career - .314/.409/.599 42HR 136RBI (again, HR and RBI are 162 game avg's) 2005 - .292/.388/.594 45HR 144RBI What part of trading for that kind of production would be increadably stupid? I dont care what their contracts look like, we have plenty of money. And yes they are older, but when they produce at that rate, i dont care. BUMP BUMP BUMP Roast. Manny and Abreu can hit for both AVG. and power. Not to mention hit a Sac. Fly.
  9. Roast, I believe you are right. Your #3 option IMO is the best. At this point, I want to win, and win now. I'm tired of losing. No one knows how good Pie will be. We all think we know how good he "COULD" be, but what did we think of Patterson? We do, however know how good Manny and Abreu are. I do not include Dunn in this because I really believe that if the Reds trade him, it will not be to a NL Central team IMO.
  10. Manny would be a huge upgrade offensively, however, that OF is very bad defensively. I would only put Manny in LF. Murton would have to be moved or be the 4th OF for that scenario to work. Don't forget one of JH's priorities this off-season was to improve the defense & that does not do it. IMO Mannys D is not as bad as people make it out to be. Sure, he is no gold glover, but he is not Alou either. He makes maybe a handful of mistakes a year that get played over and over again on ESPN. I see Murton continue to get better. Remember, he is still young.
  11. I say trade for Pierre....takes care of CF AND leadoff. Sign a FA starter....Millwood, Burnett, or Washburn. Remember Mad Dog is in the last year of his contract. Then make a hard run for Manny. We will have the money to eat some of his contract, AND we have a decent supply of minor league arms that the Bosox might want. An outfield of Pierre,Murton, and Manny. Walker at 2nd and Ronny at short. What do you think?
  12. No Furcal, no problem. Hendry needs to call up the fish and get Piere. And then.....Manny or Abreu anyone?
  13. What do we have that Boston may want?
  14. The Mets are making me sick. I want Manny.
  15. Living in Philly I can state that they will kill management no matter what they do. Apparently Micheals is not going to get traded. They now have too many bodies in the outfield, especially with the trade for Rowland. Believe it or not, philly fans HATE Abreu. They think he is lazy. Never mind that he is a 30/30 guy with a wicked OBA. bobby A. could be had, trust me, for less than you might think. Phils also have a big payroll, a little smaller now that they have lost 1/2 of Thome. Any talk of him coming to the Northsiders?
  16. I wonder if they would throw in Lowe for some prospects? Anyone know what his contract (Lowes) looks like?
  17. Same contact suggests that if the Cards do trade pitching for Abreu, they will also look seriously at signing Paul Byrd to a 2-year deal. The rich get richer :x
  18. Why oh why do the Cards have to do this to us?
  19. I agree to an extent. Furcal has a decent history, and with the going rate for SS 8 to 10/year is about right. However, I think the going rate is foolish. I cannot imagine that Furcal will put up that much better numbers than either Neifi (gasp) or Cedeno to warrent paying him that kind of money. See, that is my problem this off-season. Hendry has spent good money upgrading positions that could be filled internally and completely neglected (as far as we know) the one position where there isn't an internal candidate. I'm not saying Howry and Eyre aren't going to be servicable. But IMO the Cubs already have guys that are serviceable. I'm anxiously awaiting the Winter meetings. I hope Hendry can pull a rabbit out of his hat. I hope the Rabbit's name is Bobby. Or Manny......
