  1. Nomar loves Chicago. As does Walker. That would be an interesting conversation.
  2. I asked earlier in this thread, but I will ask again. Does anyone know if Manny has any connections to any current Cubs players? Walker maybe? I really believe Hendry should at the very least look into this.
  3. Manny is selling his house in Boston. Go get him Jim. Could you imagine, Lee-Aram-Man Ram? =P~
  4. I wonder if Hendry has inquired at all about Manny?
  5. I agree. Assuming Boston has finally reached the point of no return, I wonder how interested they would be in taking on several second tier prospects for Manny. After several years of trading away prospects for win now players, including their top guy this winter, they could use some fresh ammo for future deals. Would they take a package that included: Harvey/Dopirak, Nolasco/Marshall, Pinto/Ryu, Craig/Moore, Gallagher/Johnson, etc, along with some throw-in innings eaters like Mitre or Williams? If you could take off the top 3-4 guys you insisted on keeping, could you put together a package that would entice Boston to give up Manny without including major leaguers? While I would think Boston would be willing to absorb a lot of cash if they got back studs, I would think they'd be very happy to get 4-5 good prospects, and clear space for new signings. I agree 110%. But the million dollar question is, would Manny want to come here? Does anyone know if Manny has any connections with any current Cubs players? Todd Walker? Aram?
  6. If its true, a great pick-up for the Cubs. Just to see less of Macias
  7. I for one, would love to have Manny. At this point, I would'nt mind selling the farm to get him. Sure, he has some issues, but I would love to have that kind of production. The window for the Cubs is closing, so I say GO FOR IT! As was mentioned, I'm not sure if the Cubs would be one of the teams he would OK a trade to.
  8. Bruce, you 're here, whats the scoop? got anything?
  9. Abreu? HECK YES!!!!! :D :D =P~ I said this yesterday, I have a gut feeling we will have either Manny, Abreu, or Dunn in the outfield in 06.
  10. Welly and Mitre can't be sent to AAA without clearing waivers first. (Out of options.) I don't see how we'll avoid carrying a 12-man staff for another entire season. Guess that means we'll need Macias' "versatility" again. IMO Welly and Mitre will be part of a trade to bring in a big bat.
  11. I haven't. I as well would be impressed. As much as people have critisized Hendry, me included, I think he is going into this off season with a plan, and he will not be stopped. He has vastly improved the pen, going hard after the 1 and 2 hitters, and like I have said all day long, I have a gut feeling that when its all over we will have one of either Manny, Abreu, or Dunn. With Furcal and Pierre at the top and then ARAM, Lee and 1 of those 3  wow
  12. On a ligher note, lets say we get Furcal, JP, and trade for Manny and go play ball!!!
  13. A Bruce sighting :D . You in here Bruce?
  14. I have that same feeling Wrigley. I'm thinking Manny,Abreu, or Dunn. I think he is gonna go big.
  15. I have that same feeling Wrigley. I'm thinking Manny,Abreu, or Dunn. I think he is gonna go big.
  16. Manny, Huff, Dunn, Kearns????? That one is for us to guess and Hendry to know. He has to be setting himself up for something because he paid a lot of cash for these guys and seems intent on trying to Dusty proof the pen with Vets. I'd like Abreu, Dunn, Giles or Manny. I consider Kearns and Huff as second tier OF's. I would also like one of those guys to be able to crush righties. Seems like Floyd's an ideal guy for the Cubs. He has a 1 year left on his contract @ $6.5 mil. He's a LH bat who can bat between Lee and ARam. His health is a concern, but that makes him perfect for this organization. I'm just not sold on Floyd. His numbers are decent, but everytime I see him he just doesn't impress me. Don't know why. Maybe I'm just really stuck on the Manny,Abreu,Dunn idea. When I think of an "impact bat", those 3 come to mind real fast and real often.
  17. Yes, pending physical next week. Per Bruce Levine 3 years $12mm.
  18. Manny, Huff, Dunn, Kearns????? That one is for us to guess and Hendry to know. I consider Kearns and Huff as second tier OF's. I would also like one of those guys to be able to crush righties. IMO, the order I would go is Manny, Abreu, Dunn. I just have a gut feeling that one of those 3 will be in the outfield wearing a Cubbie uniform :D
  19. I agree Seldom. Hendry has said this fall that this will be a winter of trades. Hendry seems to have a plan, and is aggressivly acting on it. I think the Sox sucess has Hendry on a mission. IMO I think we will aquired 1, maybe 2 power bats via trade, and either a starter or another big bat through FA. I personally want Manny, but.......
  20. Exactly. And now that it sems that the signing will be announced, does anyone care to wager on how many pages this thread will top off at? Shall we set the over/under at 51? I say under. We can move on to bigger and better things. No more speculation about will he sign, or won't he. He is ours pending the physical :)
  21. Per Bruce Levine ESPN 1000 the deal for Howry is done pending physical next week. 3 year $12mm. Will be announced next week. Now lets get some bats.
  22. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Hendry needs to check into this and see what it would take to get Manny. I know, I know, he acts like a baby, and we don't need his selfish attitude here, but the production is hard to argue with. A HEALTHY pitching staff, a true leadoff man, and Manny would imo get us deep into the post season. Thoughts?
  23. He also wears his hat sideways and likes to rap. Once he gets here, if he says the words "wiggly feel" I hope he gets benched. LOL......either that's really funny, or im gettin really tired
