  1. I was figuring that dining area was for the players, but maybe you have it right. I thought the auditorium might be there for the players...like at the spring facility. Kinda fits with that thing Theo was talking about with wanting to operate like a football team in some ways. Could really be both (media and players), I guess. Player dining seems pretty clearly all the way to the left, near the pool table and ping pong table, and the kitchen. These sorts of bars are pretty standard in all newer stadiums, completely separate from the hoi polloi, and providing some sort of greater access to at least seeing the players. Did not know that. The idea of a bar with an open doorway to the dugout/clubhouse tunnel is insane to me. I guess I understand the desire to include an exclusive bar/restaurant in the stadium. The new Yankee stadium rather famously included a number of swanky drinking and dining options. Building it dugout/batting cage adjacent seems really weird, though. Not the same thing, but there is already an open viewing area of the OF batting cages in the lower part of the RF bleachers.
  2. I'd Kyle-hug Kate Upton if she were wearing one of these Cubs jerseys.
  3. Chicago banned foie gras?!? What is this? Almost every organ meat is delicious done right. Foie, sweetbreads, kidneys, pates, liver mousse, hog's head cheese... Briefly, until Hot Doug's told the city to [expletive] off. ... [expletive] the rooftops!
  4. Chicken hearts are outstanding. As are veal sweetbreads.
  5. Theo wants to rip Lucchino off... but Lucchino doesn't want to rip Theo off?
  6. You wouldn't be surprised that Manziel was sending photos of Clowney's penis to girls?
  7. I actually hope it's real. I LOL'd at the It's A Small World part.

  10. Liver, in any form, is horrific food. This is moot; the wust is bloot.
  11. quoting myself, LOL but yeah, apparently the new clubhouse will be under the plaza (triangle area)...that seems like some pretty long tunnel walking they'd be doing, no? Isn't the current tunnel supposedly a wrapped up intestine? Straighten that think out and it's probably the same. The visitor's one is.
  12. I know there was talk of buying out the buildings themselves, but reading the articles about the rumored offer/counter it's buying out the contract, not buying the buildings from them, right? They'd still be free to do whatever they want with the real estate, and if the real estate only has value for this narrow purpose then it's probably not that valuable anyway. I think only a few if any still have people actually living in them, so I don't know what kind of infrastructure and zoning work would need to be done, but you could do a lot worse than owning a four-flat across the street from Wrigley Field. I think it's closer to 50/50, actually.
  13. I *did* tell PTR that we needed to spend and get some FAs yesterday. Coincidence? ... Probably.
  14. I just shook PTR's hand. "we need to spend on some free agents, Tom. Please." PTR "We'll get there. We'll get there"
  15. Really? When was that? I'm having a hard time finding any downloadable past schedules. Even better. May 26 to July 28 30-25. Interesting. Only 7 under .500, but like 10 games back in the WC. I wonder what the FOs "magic number" is to buy vs. sell.

  17. I should be more optimistic than I currently am. Positives: Samardzija, Castro, Rizzo, Hammel, Jackson lately, pythag. record. If you told me in March that they would be outscoring their opponent with substantial improvements from Castro and Rizzo, I would've be pleased. Yet, I'm not. Probably because if they go 60-59 the rest of the way (which will be tough considering the likelihood of dealing away their best pitcher(s)), they will finish 76-86. If we go 33-31 or so through July 30th, do we necessarily trade Shark?
