  1. I know, just commenting. Though it's pretty obvious we probably wouldn't even keep any of these prospects we get from the Indians.
  2. To the above poster, I would cream myself for Shoo. I picked him up for fantasy last year so I followed him closely, and man, that guy can RAKE.
  3. No...but our lineup was already one of the best in the league last year, and we are presumably adding Milton Bradley to it...so Fontenot is a 7/8 hitter anyways. I'm not too worried about it at that point. Again, my thoughts exactly.
  4. Would you rather him sign Orlando Hudson and not have any money left for Bradley or Peavy? Its a decent move if derosa is indeed gone, what else would you have done to replace derosa and get a utility man. Too many wanna be GMs on this board. Give Jim some slack if its a move toward peavy. If its not than i'll eat my words and apologize. My thoughts. I can live with Fontenot/Miles if our rotation is completely stacked.
  5. If it means Peavy, then I could care less how good he is. At least he's got a little OB skills, despite no power, so he won't be completely useless.
  6. Well, the MLB is closed until the 2nd I believe so nothing can be official until at least then.
  7. Interesting. I'm still thinking that Hendry wants to add another starter (even if it's not Johnson now) because we are still looking to unload Marquis, and he seems to love Marshall in the bullpen/spot starter role. He always talks about pitching depth with Marshall being his main guy, so I still think he feels confident he can acquire another starter, like he said he wouldn't mind to do on the radio a few days ago.
  8. Just saw on MLBTR that the Angels GM said they are probably set in the OF, so take that with a grain of salt.

  12. Interesting splits there, never bothered to look at them.
  13. 4 years seems a little much considering age, but he's a damn good pitcher.
  14. Just read that Furcal's contract includes monetary incentives if he does a core strengthening workout thing on schedule. That seems pretty cool, and an interesting way to give slackers (not saying Furcal is one) a incentive to work hard.
  15. I seem to lose my passion for the draft when the Cubs are picking so low.
  16. I've been excited for Hak-Ju since we signed him, so i'm looking forward to his debut, wherever it will be.
  17. No, I assume we still like Johnson. You don't no longer consider someone just because you may have interest in another player. It's not like we're on the verge of signing Lowe.
  18. This site doesn't give a link but: http://cubtown.baseballtoaster.com/archives/1187307.html
  19. You guys hear that we now have to subscribe to the Trib or Vineline if we want to "improve our chances" in the virtual waiting rooms? BS.
  20. The OH insiders hinted 2 days ago that Teixera would possibly be attending the Ravens/Steelers game, and now ESPN has reported he will be a guest of Angelos at the game this morning. Hm...
  21. It's not a matter of whether he's old, it's a matter of whether he can throw a pitch without severe pain.
  22. Bruce liked the idea of bringing in Wiggington in his blog comments. He said he was voted a real dirty player and him and Bradley might give the Cubs a little spice. I don't know if he can play second, but he can mash lefties. Him and Fontenot would be a great platoon if DeRosa were to get dealt.
  23. I read on PSD that Kaplan said (3 days ago I believe) that Dunn's agent was begging the Cubs to take a look at him because we were his top choice. That just probably put a dagger through some of you :D)
  24. These were a few interesting quotes I hadn't heard anywhere that at least leaves some possibility open: http://chicagocubsonline.com/archives/2008/12/cubswm2008_7.php That's a real underrated site by the way. They always have nice summaries of any radio interviews or Levine reports, etc.
  25. I certainly don't think he's terrible. He was a little down on my list, but he isn't the worst thing that could happen. He likely gives you a good year next season and then becomes a FA again, so no longterm commitment is a positive that leaves options open in the future. I'd definitely take him over Marquis by a considerable margin, and i'm not a Marquis hater.
