  1. Is it? I thought he was more of a refined, pitchibility type from the time he was drafted. Am I wrong about that? Re-reading the 2007 draft thread, there's multiple mentions of his 95+ fastball and plus changeup, and even a comparison to Verlander(before the Tigers drafted him). Which is what I remembered. Thanks for doing the digging. Unless my memory fails me, he was considered a top 10 draft prospect who fell due to signability concerns. If memory serves, it was closer to top 5.
  2. A guy is a good relevant player, a GUY is something more. Law always uses it.
  3. edit: looking at Schoop's bref page...what a full name: Jonathan Rufino Jezus Schoop
  4. I read recently in a column by Randy Galloway that a lot of scouts no longer think Profar is a superstar and that his upside is that of a good player rather than an elite one. If Garza really is the crown jewel of the trading deadline, I don't think it's crazy to think Profar could be traded for him provided that's the true thinking on him. http://www.star-telegram.com/2013/06/21/4953944/major-league-exposure-has-hurt.html I think that column is a whole lot of stupid. http://media.star-telegram.com/images/columnists/galloway100.png
  5. From a couple days ago: I wonder if a Garza + Arrieta package could bring back a haul.
  6. Alcantara 1-1 with a SB to start it off.
  7. Javybomb. Edit: Javy now tied for the FSL league lead in HR's. With Sano (recently promoted) and Maikel Franco.
  8. There's some pretty good new videos of everyone in there. Torres looks a bit like Javy in that video.
  9. Buxton is really good. If you think he's a Trout type prospect, it's pretty understandable. I love our two guys, but i'd probably lean towards yes on that deal as well. Maybe his insane performance on TV the other day is just fresh in my head.
  10. Iffy vid of the 4th: http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=27908503&sid=milb
  11. Mentioned it earlier, but the one he took from Almora was crushed. Looked gone off the bat.
  12. Almora just crushed one to the track on a line and Buxton gracefully glides to make it look easy.
  13. Well loading the bases with nobody out for Byron Buxton won't help your cause, Pierce.
  14. I didn't know Pierce had that nasty 12-6 curveball in his arsenal. Just tuned in, but he looks very good.
  15. Someone posted a San Diego interview with Hoyer after the first day where he pretty much said they would have went Appel if he was there. Oh well, it's really a moot point anyways.
  16. SI tabbed Gatewood as their favorite to go #1 at the bottom of this draft recap: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mlb/news/20130607/mlb-draft-wrapup-mark-appel-astros-top-pick-winners-losers/#ixzz2VbkZF2N3
  17. Bryant interview with @thekapman. http://wgnradio.com/2013/06/07/cubs-1-pick-joins-sports-night/ And for shits and giggles, Steve Stone says he expects the Cubs to trade Starlin Castro because they chose Kris Bryant... . https://www.csnchicago.com/cubs/cubs-kris-bryant-addresses-media Link is weird, but find Stone's mug in the video options at the bottom if it doesn't take you there.

  19. Good stuff for the Cards. Personally, i'm a Ziomek fan at 41. But that's assuming alot of available guys are off the table.
  20. Gray, easily. Bryant wouldn't disappoint me at all. Pitchers are scary. I hate drafting pitchers in the first round. I mean maybe you have to in a year like this, but it's followed by three years of worrying every start might end up with him holding his forearm and making a face. Those Bryant Cape Cod stats scared the hell out of me. They are from right after his freshman year, alot's changed.
