  1. Theres no way in hell tex gives up texeira. hes only 25 , can play left, and puts up monster numbers. That being said, it is jim hendry. But in all honesty, teixera is a borderline superstar offensively and is only 25.
  2. Per Offman(not sure how reliable he is)- Cubs have shifted gears from soriano and dunn and are now pursuing huff from tampa.
  3. not sure if this was posted here but here it is again....fox sports article posted 2 hrs ago predicting the cubs would be the winners of the deadline. Said Soriano moving to left(if he would) would be big, said Mench is on our radar too, and by Manny's picture it says Manny could be the one to end the Cubs curse.... or something along those lines. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/3839346
  4. Ok, apparently levine did actually talk about inquiring both, but everyone is saying he sounded unsure of what he was saying. Apaarently, he said "if jim gets his way, they will both be cubs". However, if you listen to the espn 1000 SC they say that he is bugging about soriano and inquiring about dunn OR kearns.
  5. yep....just heard it on espn1000....they said levine said the cubs are still "bugging" texas about soriano, and that the cubs are in discussions with cinci about aquiring dunn or kearns. They didnt say both...tho it was just them summarizing what levine said quickly and it was not a actual a replay of what levine actually said.
  6. latest from bruce levine He said that Hendry is talking to the Ranger's GM and potentially offering Walker, Mitre and Wellemeyer for Soriano (whom he says they need to rid themselves of because he is due $7 million for next year). Then he stated that Hendry continues to discuss a trade with Cincinnati for BOTH Adam Dunn and Austin Kearns. Yes, that's right~ according to Levine, if Hendry has it his way, he would acquire both of them at the same time. He went on to say that JH would still be reluctant to trade Hill, though I cannot imagine how he could possibly pull off a trade for both without including him in the deal (let alone Pie and others). (dont kill me, but its from the cubs.com board, though it seems to have been confirmed (10:30)
  7. Just to inform anyone they said on espnnews that because the deal is so complicated the red sox want to reach an agreement by 12 today(sat)
  8. More information that has been confirmed "Sean McAdam just said on the UPN post-game show that FIVE teams contacted the Red Sox about Manny Ramirez. McAdam said that two of the teams are in the National League. He wouldn't get into the details about which players are involved, except to say that the talks are serious and ongoing. He said that the rumored three-way deal between the Mets and Devil Rays has been placed on the backburner and is the least likely of the five scenarios to come to fruition. He predicts that a deal will be done by Sunday because "where there's smoke, there's fire." I would think we would obviously be one of the 2 NL teams hopefully
  9. "K-Pat Scratched from lineup! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And so was Chan Ho Park of Texas. Same thing happened when Dubois was traded, please Hendry...i dont want Park and i dont want Soriano!!! " ^Post from a reliable message board(insidetheivy.com,user has 600 posts) Apparently same game that park was pitching in until he got traded for nevin. Thought someone said patterson sat the last game too
  10. JFYI everyone.....don't know if this means anything or not but i just read patterson has been scratched from the game tonight. Doubt it's anything but you never know
  11. Can somebody tell me why we want Adam Dunn? I don't hate the guy and wouldn't mind him here, but alright, he is batting .239. Although he hits a lot of longballs he leads (or is in a close second) the league in K's. I know his OBP is high and walks alot but i don't know. The man set the record for the longest time without a sac fly of an active player or something like that so you can tell he isn't the fundamental player we are really looking for. My vote of course goes to pierre if we can get him, OBP and BA will be up there by seasons end, very young (I know dunn is young too), and can finally provide us with someone that will be in pitchers heads every second hes on base. In addition to that, i dont see why people say the wrigley grass would hinder that because wouldnt it just slow down groundballs ad bunts dead in the grass making it easier for him to beat it out? Anyways i just wanted to see why many people are obsessed with Adam Dunn. P.S- I'm Rammy Fanny and I'm new to the Board!! :D
