  1. Mentioned he's comfortable with with DeRosa anywhere except CF and Catcher, and said when he had to play 3rd he played it as good as anyone in the NL.
  2. Thought we could use an title update since the last one was about 40 pages old.
  3. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7744864/Padres-will-take-it-slow-with-injury-prone-Prior I don't really know how much better of prospects they'd get. Gally is our best pitching prospect. Maybe they are buying into the Colvin is a very good prospect rumor that has floated around the baseball circle recently, and would take him instead of Murton or something?
  4. Lou: Only spot up for competition in ST outside of the rotation is CF. So, in other words, that's bad news for the Ronny Cedeno fanboys. Jim: Doesn't see many scenario's where both Pie and Fuld make the team. They will battle it out and most likely the other will go back to Iowa. Jim said ideally he would like to make 2 or 3 trades, or at least 1 or 2. But then gave the blah blah quotes about how it takes other teams willing. Those were the interesting points.
  5. Only two things of significance so far: --Hendry said the Cubs made a call to the Twins early in the process but were told immediately that Santana wanted to go East coast and play on a team that trained in Florida. -- While talking about getting another second baseman (you know who), Hendry said that if we did get him that we wouldn't be trading DeRosa. Jim and now Lou will be coming up next.
  6. Kenney, assuming Roberts was one of the deals he was talking about.
  7. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&id=3225433 Ehh, I bet the other MLB teams they asked don't know too much because I think the Roberts thing is pretty much a cinch to be one of the deals Kenney said would happen. You don't say that if you haven't discussed the specifics.
  8. I still bet the second close "high profile" move Kenney said was pending involves DeRosa. If the 2nd move was so close as well, I don't see why we wouldn't just do it now. It seems to me like we have to secure Roberts first, and that's whats holding up the second trade. I'd like the Burnett rumor personally, though as someone previously pointed out it sounded like both were for hitters (though it's up to your personal interpretation). For those wondering about Kenney's comments who hadn't heard it, Waddle and Silvy asked him if acquiring Santana would work for the Cubs with the sale and Kenney responded that it would gut the farm, and that he "preferred" the two pending deals rather than one for Johan since he would only be playing every 5 days. To me, that makes it sound like the deals are for hitters, but it could also just be Kenney preferring Roberts + another pitcher as opposed to just Santana (considering his cost and players given up).
  9. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/baseball/bal-os0131,0,5335928.story Doubt Pie would be in a package for 4. Probably a Gally/Murton or Colvin/Epatt/Marquis or Dempster thing if he's got his facts straight. I'd bet its Gallagher, Murton, and Marquis. Or something like that. Hate to give up Murty and Gallagher, but if they take Marquis I'll live with it. I'm hoping we can keep Murton from the O's (replace him with Colvin?) so we can trade him for a SP prospect or two to hopefully help make up for Gally's loss. Since Latos can't be traded, how about Innman and/or Leblanc? Sometihng along those lines, unless of course we can expand it to get Greene.
  10. FWIW, Both Peace21 and BigBird saying Pie in fact won't be in any Roberts trade. End of this page with Peace chiming in on page 4 and later. http://forum.orioleshangout.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58463&page=2 Here's Peace's quote on Pie: Question- Answer-

  12. #3, though that's before he's added mph as of late and lost 25 lbs this offseason.
  13. If we were going to deal Murton+ for Marlon Byrd, I sure as hell would rather deal that for Crisp if I had to.
  14. He's not really that good? Actually, I'd attribute it to him fracturing his hand in 2006 +1 I remember there being some sort of injury that I gave him a little leeway for, and that was it.
  15. And quick, someone find a deal where we can get Lowrie back I know it ain't happening but I can dream.
  16. Did Crane specifically say they weren't pitchers? And this 2 deal thing has been around awhile now, I doubt Crisp would be one of the guys since he was on and off in the Santana discussions.
  17. And if we deal Pie we better not be dealing Gallagher with him.
  18. I doubt Callis has a great source knowing who we're talking about trading and decides to break his info in his chat. I bet (and hope) he's just referring to the Rosenthal stuff. But Bruce, if you're lurking, we need you more than ever
  19. Well, don't forget that our boy Jim traded 3 solid arms for him only 2 years ago.....I'm still trying to get over that. Yeah, it still haunts me that we lost 2 terrible SP's and one average bullpen arm. Sucks that we got that Donaldson guy as well.
  20. The Twins didn't get "hosed", the simply didn't get as much as they should have. The Twins should have demanded that any trades would START OFF with Martinez, and not Gomez. Otherwise, I think it's a solid deal, just not "spectular" as Bill Smith should had gotten. But what is being forgotten, is that the Twins do get three pretty solid arms to go with Lirano/Bonser/Slowery, plus a RH version of Felix Pie. So again, the deal is not all bad, just not "spectular" as some wanted. Pie's still shown more with the bat than him in the minors.
