  1. short answer: no long answer: still just no
  2. this rules, i've loved this guy for a long ass time
  3. http://kramersapartment.com/wp-content/uploads/the-pool-guy-2b-366x366.jpg "why don't you just tell me what your plan is?"
  4. OMC, any further intel on this? http://mgoblog.com/content/so-about-shea-patterson
  5. Michigan has a never ending supply of quarterbacks who can't throw for horsefeathers
  6. posting this just bc i was curious where he stacked up and looked up a few recent high picks in their first 5 starts (maybe not super revelatory, admittedly) completion% / TD:INT, ypa, ay/a, rush, yds, td Prescott: 69%, 4:0, 7.99 ypa, 9.51 ay/a, 19- 61-3 (101.5 qb rating) C. Wentz: 65%, 7:0, 7.55 ypa, 8.16 ay/a, 13- 37-0 (99.9) Mariota: 64%, 9:5, 7.70 ypa, 7.42 ay/a, 10- 72-0 (93.2) Winston: 57%, 7:7, 7.72 ypa, 6.57 ay/a, 20- 62-1 (77.6) Trubisky: 51%, 3:2, 7.03 ypa, 6.77 ay/a, 15-110-0 (75.6) J. Goff: 55%, 4:5, 5.46 ypa, 4.56 ay/a, 6 - 12-1 (65.7) Kizer: 51%, 3:9, 5.35 ypa, 3.18 ay/a, 12-126-2 (49.5)
  7. i have quite frankly never heard of Nelson Velasquez before now
  8. i don't see how this is conclusive either way play has to stand as called
  9. it's a perfect encapsulation of modern NFL
  10. i can't fully process what is even happening in this game
  11. this fuckin guy
  12. Schwarber's 6th-worst OF in baseball for statcast's Outs Above Average https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/outs_above_average UZR's filtering out so many plays with shifts and whatever else now (from what i recall) that its findings don't intuitively make a whole lot of sense anymore to me
  13. that's a better UZR than Kevin Kiermaier, which i, uh, totally believe
  14. I don't think it is laziness. He just doesn't read the ball well or see it some times. If you watch the play again, you can clearly see him jogging before he realizes he is out of position and he tries to sprint to the ball. He routinely does this. Some of his more "spectacular" catches were because he was out of position on the ball and managed to run it down. Show your work. Because the defensive metrics out there disagree with you, and no offense, but you're just a guy on a message board. -9 DRS in 800 innings is not good but if he hits .250 like in the 2nd half, it's largely a non-issue
  15. fun to watch a football game where the ball can't even be held onto
  16. so, about that we lead baseball in hitter WAR post-ASB by more than a little bit Cubs 14.8 Indians 13.0 we also lead MLB in both OBP & SLG by a fair amount - .351 team wOBA with Indians following up at .343 and Bryant is striking out at just 17% clip; Will's down under 18% (2nd half) Happ's a +12 UZR/150 CF long-term forecast for this team probably looks even better now than it did before the start of the season, i'd argue
  17. Javy leads the team in WPA & 2nd in RBI, post-ASB
  18. his career line inc. postseason is .229/.337/.482 so if you think he can hit .270 that's a monster bat in the middle of the order
  19. It is a big problem whose fault lies exclusively with the umpire. He handled that horrific call as best he could up until the quick hook on Contreras. Lackey was never going to shut up, toss him. But you make a call that egregious and influential you can't be that itchy on the trigger finger when Willy isn't even in his face. all Willy did was say something about next tuesday "i'm a big fan of your wife"
