    find three guys who'll do that, is more of what i'm wanting if Baker/Marcum/Floyd want one-year deals to rebuild value, i'm all for it if Villanueva, McCarthy, Liriano want the security of a 3- or 4-year deal, i'd be happy to oblige (the assumption here is also that none of these guys will be commanding $10M AAV, but it's possible i'm low on a couple of these guys) I like Liriano, but I can't understand why you're happy to give him a 4 year deal but are limiting Baker/Marcum/Floyd to 1. that's just leverage, i assume his agent would be more receptive to take the security, whereas the other 3 guys have proven themselves more recently and might not go beyond a year; i'd probably take any of the previously mentioned names on 3+ year deals, if they're up for it, regardless of the gamble...what else are we going to do, just hope we find a 12-year-old fan who can hit 102 on the gun?

    he also has the highest BB rate on the team (over-125-PA-division) going forward, he's basically another David DeJesus; take that however you will

    not on its own, but his defense at 3B has been about as good as it gets, and even neutral luck makes him a pretty productive player this year his baserunning has been rather unfortunate though, but i always want to assume that can be fixed with coaching

    How the hell do you figure that? His at-bats are always fantastic. He has a really good eye and drives the ball to the opposite field consistently. Those are things his numbers can show. his xBABIP is .293 while he suppresses it some with a healthy amount of pop-ups, you should have better than a .253 babip with a 20.5% LD rate also, his HR:FB rate (5.7%) would place as one of the lowest rates in the majors were he to qualify, and at least anecdotally, i can attest that he has more power than the Erick Aybar/Daniel Murphy-types he shares company with for that stat http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/player/luis-valbuena/hitchart/765789?q=luis-valbuena at Wrigley alone, you can see five near-misses on HRs, turned into outs
