  1. He's such a big dude, it seems unfathomable that he would be such a pierre at a plate for so long. Are we supposed to be upset if he's in our Opening Day lineup next year? I've got no clue what to think about him. assuming a tight budget, i'm actually fine with Sweeney & Lake starting provided we can sign Tanaka or do something exciting with the other monies freed up
  2. PROPOSED RULE CHANGE: chess rules- if you concede a matchup you automatically lose the matchup, i don't think i can handle another season of you whiny fucks falling over each other to be the first to declare your hopes dead on a weekly basis
  3. #NEEDTOSPOON
  4. in his podcast he called Jonathan Gray and Eddie Butler future relievers; there's seemingly like 4 pitching prospects he sees as actual future starters
  5. they had (iirc) 54 plays in the first half and built a 26-7 lead off their fast-paced hurry-up offense; it's not just a typical ESPN fabricated storyline, seeing how Chip Kelly's offense translates to the NFL is an actual thing of real intrigue man, i can only imagine your guys' disdain right now if you had followed Chris Brown/SmartFootball on twitter
  6. so, is Ryan Sweeney: Power Hitter a real thing?
  7. this is how you execute a block
  8. jamie mac ‏@justcoverblog 17h Since Devin Gardner became starting QB, Michigan is 29/29 in the red zone chance w/ 25 TDs. That's 6.44 points per trip
  9. ok i guess that makes up for that [expletive] bounce on their first TD
  10. well that was quite possibly the worst thing i've ever seen in my whole entire life
  11. it just hit me that Rees looks like [expletive] Break from American Pie
  12. purple face time!
  13. Tom Harmon to Desmond Howard, just like the good ole days!
  14. [expletive] awesome
  15. fangraphs has higher threshold for replacement level, i think (but there had been talk about standardizing this); his (ERA-based) RA9-WAR is 5.4, good for 5th in baseball i'm not crazy about prioritizing FIP over ERA for pitchers, unless you're trying to better account for a spectacularly shitty/fantastic defensive team; i just think it's foolish to completely dismiss the skill of missing barrels
  16. David Wilson
  17. Pedro over The Rocket, or even Boggs, seems a little crazy to me
  18. yeah, score one for Keith Law, i guess
  19. thanks everybody for making me even happier to live in MI
  20. also he's induced more swinging strikes than Edwin Jackson or Garza, if you can believe it
  21. if that's the case i'll take Bluiett
  22. Alcantara is so weird to me; i understand batting eye taking a little time to develop, but in A-ball he played like he didn't possess any tools at all either just two years ago: 19 2B, 5 HR & 15 SB in 160 games at A & A- now he's on pace for 43/18/37 at AA and getting Reyes/Rollins comps
  23. for some sick, twisted reason i actually look forward to Rusin starts now i threw this in the game thread his last start, but the point remains; we might actually have something here Rusin 2.64 ERA / 3.82 FIP / 4.19 xFIP .281 BABIP, 47% GB, 8.9% HR:FB 8.8% swinging Strikes Wood 3.09 ERA / 3.83 FIP / 4.45 xFIP .238 BABIP, 33% GB, 7.4% HR:FB 7.4% swinging strikes full stats
  24. neither have announcers', it seems; Collinsworth somehow thinks 18 points is a 2-score game
