  1. they've undeniably improved after a sort of disastrous April (the pitching staff leads MLB in May fWAR) April: offense - .291 wOBA, 0.85 WAR/650 PA pitching - 1.70 WAR / 200 IP May: offense - .308 wOBA, 1.60 WAR/650 PA pitching - 4.40 WAR / 200 IP starters have given up just 3 HR in all of May (avg is 12)

  3. an early mock loving these comparisons, too...Napier should sue for defamation
  4. this is ridiculous, even for you
  5. i wonder if it's about time to move up Jose Arias 14-1/3 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 21 K (0 HR) for the past month, but he's still sitting in A ball as a 23yo
  6. Victor Martinez: 11 HR, 9 Ks also, Mike Trout leads the AL in strikeouts
  7. jason parks is full of want!
  8. that idiot has no courage of his convictions...railing against stat scouting, and doing precisely just that, repeatedly "meh, he's a reliever" ... "WOULDN'T TRADE, UNTOUCHABLE"
  9. omitting just the first 4 games of the season: http://i.imgur.com/JxGgzwx.png that's a lot of doubles
  10. at least he's in the right organization if he can only perform well in the daytime
  11. for the past month, the Cubs bullpen is 2nd in the NL for fWAR Rondon, Ramirez, Schlitter & Wright all have 10+ appearances with FIPs of 2.28 or better (of the four, only Schlitter is in the twos) it's fair to say it's come together and is serving as a clear strength of the team right now
  12. holy [expletive], that's like a doubleheader's worth for Javy Baez or Brett Jackson
  13. and Matt Adams (and a higher BB%!) also has higher wOBA than Chris Davis, Longoria, Myers, Zobrist, Bruce, Cano
  14. yes, without question
  15. Over the course of 6 months it is more predictive. Over the course of 1.5 months with 2 huge outlier games it is meaningless. worth noting that both pitchers we bombed (Cingrani, Lyons) were likely pitching injured (both were placed on DL immediately following their starts)
  16. we seem to have cooled on him quite a bit and started focusing more on other options, so i'd imagine the staff is reading between the lines there he's really good, but i would have loved most the novelty of a lefty-shooting PG...don't seem to see many of those
  17. hey, look who's #1! http://www.baseball-reference.com/play-index/share.cgi?id=Bn1iT
  18. honestly, he might be the best pitcher in baseball right now
  19. was "the deadliest catch" or whatever that show was about Chad Ochocinco's dating life even a distraction at all for the Bengals?
