Any of these guys who has $$$ can get a doctor/BALCO-type lab to constantly test them so they'll beat the tests. And, as was said, there's no test for HGH yet.
With a name like "Ryan O'Malley" in a town where everyone thinks they're Irish, you gotta keep him on the team the rest of the year just for marketing purposes.
You might as well blow the team up if you're going to say that. This team has TWO years to win, then we'll have to rebuild somewhat around a new core of players besides Lee/Z/Prior/Aram/Barrett.
The big problem in 2003 is the bullpen was terrible. Borowski was a pretty decent closer that year, but beyond that it was pretty scary. Farns was the Farns, and could blow people away or walk in the go-ahead run for the other team.
We're fine as far as capacity goes with the bleacher expansion New Busch - 44,000 Miller Park - 43,000 Great American Ballpark - 42,000 Wrigley Field - 41,000 Minute Maid Park - 41,000 PNC Park - 38,000
Hawkins was considered a great move when it happened. It was Dusty putting him in as closer that was the stupid move. Hawkins was lights-out as a setup man before Dusty ruined his confidence by making him close.
That's because Stone said we should have traded Ramirez for Izturis. Yeah, Stone wanted to trade for him in early July, and he thinks Izturis/Cedeno would be our middle infield for "the next five years".
Just to play devil's advocate, Izturis was an All-Star in 2005, and was leading MLB in hits in June 2005 before he got hurt and his production declined.
