It may take 5 years. The Cubs get knocked on all the time for not signing the big name, but that's because they usually don't offer the years the big names require. Then trade him for some decent prospects. :shock:

The key word in that statement is the Angels said NO. Miggy could be the final peice of the Cubs puzzle. I say you gotta give it a shot. Of course you give it a shot. JH would be [expletive] if he didn't. We just don't have a great chance of pulling it off (if Cabrera is truly available). We really don't have that dynamite sure thing prospect to get this done.

I think he was refering to Prior's schedule barring no setbacks like dead arm, elbow troubles (please God NO), or any of the other bs that can come up during ST for any pitcher.

Cabrera is a freak. Supposedly the Marlins are asking for Figgins and several top Angels prospects (Angels said no). That's far above what we can offer.

Pierre was 3rd in triples last season (13) and way down the list in doubles, so saying he doesn't get that many XBH is a little misleading. It looks like when he gets an XBH, it's a triple b/c of his speed. Pods had a whopping 1 3B last season (and 28 doubles to Pierre's 19). Compare Pierre to other speedsters like Chone Figgins, Pods, and Reyes. He's not that bad. * I used to rag on Pierre too, but considering what other teams use for leadoff hitters, he isn't that bad. It's not his fault Chicago doesn't use the Oakland A's method for playing baseball. It's about getting the best players we can in that old school system, rather than bitching about not getting monster OBP guys (it's futile).
