    If he goes 3 for 4 again, I could give a s*&t where he bats. Yeah and if he goes 3 for 4 every day then screw Ted Williams... Ted's the only man colder than Aramis Ramirez. Dude can still take a pitch though.

    How bad is a free agent signing that has the recently signed player involved in every trade discussion, and also includes sending cash along with him in the deal? Albatross contracts. The Cubs have had them. Todd Hundley and Sammy Sosa on the back end of his contract are of recent note. It's as if these GM's didn't get enough flak over bad contracts. Now, it's "thank you, may I have another?" FWIW I don't think the Cubs org shares most NSBB posters' opinion of Jones. And that's honestly quite a shame. Because if "most NSBB posters" knew it was a poor idea to give Jacque Jones a 3 year deal, you would hope that the Cubs org would know it even more. The top Cubs scouts say otherwise. Honestly, I haven't watched Jones a whole lot, but from what I've seen he gets eaten alive by the inside fastball. What ML pitcher can't throw that? That long swing is crap as far as I'm concerned. Some ppl think Jones was putting a lot of pressure on himself with no lineup protection in Minnesota the last 2 years. I think he's just overrated. His D is pretty good, even if the occaisional line drive eats him up. He charges the walls pretty fearlessly. Pretty swing. Huge holes.

    When asked an unexpected question, you might hesitate too. It's like ESPN and Gammons just want to start drama - asking Lee what he thought about giving up millions to play for the yankees or the red sox and now asking prior whether he and wood would be better off somewhere else. No, no ulterior motives there. :wink:

    What does Glendon Rusch have to do with Andy Sisco? If Sisco was still in the organization, he'd likely be in the same position as Marshall, Guzman and Ryu. In other words, Rusch still would of gotten a $5 mil, 2 year contract. The title of the thread makes the comparison. Ha! Well there you go. Still, the point remains the same. Yeah. I have no idea either. It does make a little sense in that they are both lefties, but it's not like Sisco was lights out in A ball (when the Cubs let him go). He got stuck in KC with a crappy team that let him get some ML experience and he did ok. He wouldn't have overtaken Marshall or Hill in the depth chart. Basically, Sisco would never see the light of day in the Cubs org thanks to our starting pitching situation. Still, Sisco's limited success comes at the league minimum. Rusch's crappiness costs us millions. What a freaking waste. My comment came more from a disgust with Rusch rather than Sisco love.

    Hill pitched well in AAA, but he pitched like crap with the big league club last year. I'd rather see Guzman called up. But I'd definitely take either over Rusch. hate to break it to you, but there's a decent chance that guzman will pitch like crap when he first comes up too. marshall didn't pitch that well in his first start. you just can't expect a guy to hop right into the rotation and put up a 2.50 era. I'm not sure what I said that could have possibly caused you to infer that I'm expecting Guzman to put up a 2.50 ERA, but anyways... he's been in the minors since 2000 and I'm ready to see what he can do at the major league level. i am too. but you don't want hill b/c of the lumps he took last year, and i think it'd be naive to think that guzman won't have similar problems at first. I think it's pretty ridiculous to just assume that Guzman will struggle. Sure, he might. But then again, he might not. And it's not that I'm opposed to calling Hill up; I'd just rather see what Guzman is capable of first. Most rookies have up and down outtings. Look at Wood for example. Gets rocked and then strikes out 20. Guys like Duke are the extreme exception to the rule.
