  1. Thank God we won it all last year because this is getting really ugly.
  2. You mean the guy that brought in ARam, DLee, and Barrett via trade? Hendry has made some fine trades. You can add Murton and Nomar (it was a good effort). The Neifi Perez trades trumps all of those.
  3. I like how everyone and their mother knows what Zambrano is doing wrong (throwing more sidearm, flattening out his pitches) but it hasn't been fixed yet. I'm not sure if Rothschild knows what's wrong and Zambrano hasn't been able to correct it, or if Rothschild is just a moron. I think Rothschild is getting thrown under a bus here. Z is going to do what Z wants to do and if he's hurt it makes sense he'll continue using the same arm slot no matter what his pitching coach says. Rothschild's comments probably had more to do with the fact he didn't want to add to the controversy.
  4. His defense has always been overrated and right now he's awful. He used to be fine playing a shallow CF however he's lost a step and it's not working anymore.
  5. A pretty good article... Carlos Zambrano’s Lower Arm Slot: cause for concern?
  6. This is mind boggling... Current Standings Looper GS - 8 ERA+ - 171 Link Marquis GS - 8 ERA+ - 186 Link
  7. That's one of the worst trade ideas this side of Victor Zambrano for Scott Kazmir. Carl Crawford is flashy but not that good. Carl Crawford is a valuable player. He's young, cheap, plays elite defense and put up a solid .289/.364/.481 last year. Z is expensive, ineffective and going to be a FA. What makes Crawford a bad player? I hope Pie can be as good as Crawford. No to mention he also has a very good contract. I never said Crawford was bad. I said the trade was one sided. JJ and Z for mediocre outfielder is a terrible trade. Even if Z is a one year rental. And we're saying he's not a mediocre. He had the 2nd highest VORP for AL LFers last year and he plays plus defense. Also he's, young, improving and cheap. Considering everything I'd take him over Z. Of course you would, you're a Cardinal fan. Carlos Zambrano was top 10 in VORP in MLB last year AMONG ALL PITCHERS. Trading the likes of Carl Crawford for him is just plain stupid. Throwing in JJ to sweaten the pot is, well... stupider? Hah, it's not because I'm a Cardinals fan but because of the reasons I outlined above. Heck, if you notice some Cub fan posters agree with me. Z is a FA after this year and he looks injured. You keep bagging on Crawford and I don't know why.

  9. I don't have a problem with the guest conductors singing however their in game interviews are annoying.
  10. Next year a Marquis t-shirt will be about as cool as a Todd Hundley jersey.

  12. True, but there was weakness in Z's peripherals last season to suggestion he wasn't right. I think he's injured.
  13. Len is a really, really good announcer during games like this.
  14. I'm looking forward to TLR stacking the all-star team with all the deserving Cardinals.
  15. This hurts as much as losing Carp. How will the Cards ever recover?
  16. I know if I show up late, hungover, and unable to perform they will intrude in my personal life by removing me from their payroll. Even if it was for the first time? That seems a little extreme. In my job, if I show up under the influence of alcohol or drugs, I'm terminated. If I get a DWI, I'm terminated. I can drink all I want on my own time. I can go to all the gentleman's clubs or carouse about on my free time at will. But if I get a DWI or ever happen to be believed to be under the influence at work, they can order me to be tested. If I refuse, I'm terminated. If I consent and I test to be under the influence, i'm terminated. So, while I have a right to do what I want on my own time, there are strict parameters that surround that. Do you believe your employer is doing the right thing? Since it's a school, yeah, I'd think so. Same with a pilot or anyone involved with public transport. But under the influence and hungover are two different things, you wouldn't get terminated if you were talking with co-workers about being hungover, would you, Vance? What does a DUI have to do with being an effective teacher?
  17. I don't think taking a firm stance against DWI is mandating morality. Morality is vague and open to interpretation depending on one's beliefs. DWI is breaking a hard and fast law that can have severe consequences, both legal and otherwise. So while an organization can't (and shouldn't) dictate whether or not you drink, go to strip clubs, etc., it can (and maybe should) have a firm policy against alcohol related crimes. Personally I think if you get one DWI and then you fired it's a little scary. But I'm not a huge fan of things like drunk tests for most jobs.

  20. How much should companies mandate morality and intrude in our personal life?

  22. Giving up "cash" isn't exactly desperation on the A's part.
