  1. Looking up and down the Cardinals roster and their minor league system, I would steer clear of this guy. Sure, he lucked into a World Series Championship this year, but he most certainly didn't build a dynasty. He's better than Hendry, but that ain't sayin' much. Pretty close to a dynasty unless WS rings is your only criteria. I wouldn't say anywhere close to a dynasty. Rings are the most important category if you're talking dynasty. 1 doesn't cut it. The only exception is what Atlanta did with their incredible run and 1 ring. I would consider Atlanta's run a dynasty however I understand if people feel differently.

  3. In the last 11 years the Cardinals have won seven divison titles, two NL pennants and a World Series. In the last 11 years the Cubs have won one division title (by one game) and one wild card. Not to mention the 2nd best record in baseball behind the Yankees. Jocketty has had great success wherever he's gone. And FWIW Williams is underrated GM by many SABR folks.
  4. But wait....I read a scouting report that he was good on defense! judging by your posts, you haven't read anything about anyone. don't let that stop you from having overreactions and hyperbolic opinions about everything though Don't worry. It won't. BTW I look foward to this gold glove catcher Bowen, that everyone is talking about. Who said he was a gold glove catcher? Stop it.
  5. The details are in... http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/weblog/2007/06/padres_get_barrett.html FWIW, I think Barrett's trade value is a little overrated on here.
  6. On average walking him will increase the amount of runs the Cardinals will score.
  7. Switch to non-premium ui and take a look. ;) I've been stuck at 2.0.8 with Premium because of the work involved to reinstall all the mods in that UI. I've been updating the regular UI as the releases have come out. Ah, well done sir. I hear you with the mod thing, I got stuck on 2.0.19 because of them. Even though 3 is a lot less cohesive my goal with 3 is to do as little modding as possible to insure I can upgrade to the most current release. Likewise. Once 3 goes stable, I'm going to have to figure out what premium users currently have that they'll be losing, though. :( In all seriousness, nothing. In fact they'll be gaining some really nice features because phpBB3 added almost all the most popular mods. For instance the default v3 user control panel has more features then your premium version. Even little mods like word wrap and happy birthday greetings are there. BTW, the Admin control panel is going to rock your world.

  9. Heh, yeah I upgraded and I don't regret it. IMO phpbb3 is already more secure then then the current 2.0.21 or in NSBB's case 2.0.8. That said, it's an opinion and not a fact. By the way, I would get rid of your version number on the bottom. Hackers google "Powered by phpBB 2.0.8" to find vulnerable boards.
  10. Josh Hancock sympathy votes I read that after looking at your avatar. I lol'd.
  11. Jim Hendry's Chins gets my vote. That's Bob Sanders.
  12. I pretty happy with these results. Heck, I think Derwood lost by a larger margin. I kid, I kid
  13. This might be the most lopsided contest in the tourney. Viva el birdos!
  14. oh snap, i just lost two more votes. you may be on to something.... I love ya man but it's over.
  15. The rock tourney alone should send Derwood to the sweet 16.
  16. Haha you don't want to give up your essential bye against Cards fan, do you? Never look past an opponent. You make a very adulteress point.
  17. Even though I was looking forward to getting destroyed by USSoccer Ziggy can have my spot.
  18. Dear lord is this thread still going? Even Cards fans have moved on...

  20. This thread reminds me of an apt comment from Olney Buster today in regards to Tex: Link It'll be really tough to get a top prospect for a struggling Z.
  21. This an disaster for the Cubs on many different levels. 1) It'll be tougher to resign Z and Barrett. 2) If they do decided to trade them this will hurt their value. 3) The clubhouse is a mess. Wow.
