  1. Well, I always loved you, Jorge! When they replaced you with Reddick, I said it was a mistake, even for the remainder of this season. They didn't listen to me. But I tried to convince them, Jorge. I tried.
  2. Why are we adding Reddick again? Soler has a higher career OBP as well as tons of upside. Its not like Reddick is a + defensively and the chance his on-base skills regress closer to the norm means he could very well add less value than Soler would the rest of the way, never mind Jorge's potential to improve and mash like he was before the hamstring.
  3. I guess the best we can hope for is something like Torres/Warren/Richard/Balaguert + an extension? I don't love it but I like it even less with any of our other top 5 guys replacing Torres. If it was Eloy I would have spontaneously combusted.
  4. Soler gets on base more than Bruce. He's 24 and a better defender. I'm gonna say it every chance I get, unless there's a huge upgrade, let Jorge play. Get that bat going like it was in the month before his injury and we're back to Murderer's Row.
  5. Of course every team could always use another premier arm in the pen. I have to admit, though, I feel kind of bad for Rondon. He allows the 2nd fewest baserunners in baseball, ahead of Miller, Chapman, Betances, etc and even after getting Montgomery the talk is still about adding a big arm in the pen. I get it, I do. I want a pen full of closers and "firemen". I just think Rondon flies under the radar, even in Chicago.
  6. Fowler Bryant Rizzo Contreras Baez Soler Russell Zobrist Is the best I can come up with offensively.
  7. Ugh. Soler has a higher career OBP% than Reddick (!), he's 5 years younger and still has incredible upside. He was also looking great before the hamstring. Like TT said, make a real impact move or stay quiet. It's the best team in baseball as currently constructed.
  8. I wonder at what point the Maddux comparisons will pick up steam?
  9. I want nothing more than a Russell dong.
  10. Love the adjustment Baez made after his 1st AB.
  11. 5-15. Bad 20 games. It happens. 1/3 of those losses were by 1 run. Some were like last night. More baserunners, more xbh, still lose. Bad luck and bad sequencing making bad play look much worse. Fowler Zobrist Bryant Rizzo Contreras Baez Heyward Russell is still the best lineup in baseball. Pitching needs to get right, of course.
  12. Gotta be close to a .700 OBP for this game and yet they're tied. Frustrating.
  13. So Butler and Wade are going to take turns showing off their fadeaways, leaving Rondo looking for Doug, Niko and Taj for his assists. Defensively, Rolo, Taj and Jimmy are it. Everyone else is quite terrible. I don't see this going well.
  14. ...what storylines? Here's What The Warriors and 29 Other Loser Teams With No Prayer of Winning Did Last Night! Lots of moving around = lots of new story lines. Russ. goes solo, Lebron the champ underdog, bulls in NY, Thibs with great 2nd chance, Lakers sans Kobe, tons of new narratives in big markets.
  15. If nothing else, the NBA will be full of storylines. The fact that GS could lose a top 3 player in the league and still be the favorites is ridiculous.
  16. I really want to live out a thunder dome fantasy vs. Joe Buck.
  17. wtf was the Baez/Ross custom celebration? They each appeared to lift a leg and thrust their pelvises together with both players emitting a loud grunt.
  18. Damn it I'm telling you guys, Soler will be the bringer of dongs we all anticipated. Just give him time.
  19. Google didn't have the answer and maybe I just missed the discussion here but can someone please tell me what the deal is with Zobrist opening his mouth like a caveman before the pitch is delivered? I only noticed it the other day and its possibly the funniest thing I've ever seen.
  20. This season just gets better and better. I write this and then 5 dongs from players averaging ~ 24 years of age. Or just under 5 years per dong. I wonder what the record there is?
  21. Yeah, this is probably the most disappointing lineup thus far. Been waiting for Maddon to roll out the youngest possible group and tonight would have been a great opportunity.
