There was a year ('07?) where Marmol was untouchable, clearly the best reliever on the team, and was used in the highest leverage situations regardless of when they occurred. I'm sure he wanted the paycheck that comes with saves, and he was made the closer the following year. The next time an uber-dominant reliever emerges, I would love to see them pay him like a closer and put him in that role.

It's been a bizarre year. If you had told me in March that Dansby Swanson would have a higher wRC+ than: Manny Machado Trea Turner Cal Raleigh Bo Bichette Jackson Merrill I would assume he would be in line to start the All-Star game.

I would try to make the pitching version of the Michael Busch deal. Instead of negotiating with a "seller" at the deadline, trade from our surplus for an arm that's on the cusp. Swapping Shaw or Ramirez for an SP like Macdougal or Snelling.

Abbott is the kind of LHP I'd want Mo to face. You're going to want him to get more comfortable with lefties before October.
