How would they compare to South Korea in 2002? South Korea got massive, massive assists from the refs in their wins over Italy and Spain. CRC is just bunkering and has a hot goalkeeper.

ESPN reporting Neymar done for the tournament with a fractured vertebrae. This is 100% on the ref for letting [expletive] get completely out of hand.

If the favorite is trailing or tied, take the amount there should be and add 3. If the favorite is winning, subtract 3. Thats how this tournament has treated stoppage time.

The single biggest task for the upcoming cycle will be to find a way to replace the 96 goals that Donovan and Dempsey have been responsible for during their NT careers. I don't think LD's going to play again under JK, and while I think Clint could last through the next WC, it's definitely no sure thing, and whether or not he lasts through Copa America or the WC, we have to find a way to be less D&D dependent. Just looking at the guys currently on-the-radar, we need Luis Gil and Juan Agudelo to take the next step forward in their development. Of the guys who have had caps, those two have the most upside in terms of attacking nous, but both need to make progress forward.

We are ranked 11th and you guys 13th - this game was supposed to be close. Neutral outsiders seem to really like what they saw yesterday. If my guys step up like they did yesterday, we've got a chance against Messi and his supporting cast (their goalkeeper cannot possibly repeat what Howard did yesterday). Especially since we'll be the underdogs and the pressure will be on Argentina. I think you guys will torch that defense. Argentina are very shaky at the back.

I have the same back 5. Bradley, Mix, Gil, Green Altidore and Agudelo. ETA: Just realized that you and I picked the exact same team other than Agudelo for AJ. If Fagundez would find a way to citizenship, go ahead and replace Mix with him. I think he's the best prospect playing in MLS right now and that it isn't close. Nagbe will be available this cycle, too.

More fun with numbers: We were outshot 39 to 17. They put 17 on target, to our 5. 39 shots is nuts. 56 total attempts on goal I think is the most in the tournament so far. They had 19 corners to our 4. That's where the failure to attack their fullbacks hurts, because the diagonal ball behind was there all day long.

LD wouldn't have been a replacement for Jozy. Boyd, or Eddie Johnson could have been, but Boyd is raw and EJ is a jackass.

I don't think it can be said enough times how badly we got our asses handed to us and how amazing Howard was to keep us in it. Just ridiculously amazing play. Going to disagree slightly: Not nearly as lopsided as my memory, and yours, tell us how the game went. The 25 minutes Belgium spent in our final third shooting straight into Howard because Zusi and Bedoya couldn't pass out of pressure masked how many opportunities of our own we had. Belgium are a good team, but I still think they were beatable today. Fun fact: after the Ghana game, Clint Dempsey spent only 50 minutes of the rest of the tournament in his SS/ACM role. Asinine that JK built his roster in such a way that screwed us as hard as it did when Jozy got hurt.

If the money that MLS is able to pay its domestic talent is able to increase relatively quickly, you'll see the player pool widen substantially.

Tactical cam shows the AR didn't flag Wondo for offside. He put his flag up to signal goal kick after the ball crossed touch. Which means that Wondo failed to accomplish the one job he had in Brazil.

Full credit to Belgium for attacking us relentlessly when they saw how gassed our midfield was. Howard deserved a win today, but their attacking mids made our tired CMs and defenders look bad on multiple occasions after the 60th minute.

That was horsecrap. Had there been another game this cup with only one minute? Nope. They had two corners they milked, one sub who walked off (remember that caused the ref in the Portugal game to add on a full minute when Zusi did it), and one goal kick that Courtois should have seen yellow for time wasting on. 1 minute was garbage.
