  1. Cripes, guys, come ON. Get something going!!!
  2. We just can't catch a break thus far. Well, going back to the SF series, the Cubs have had plenty of opportunities as a result of terrible defense. It's about time they start converting more than 20% of their chances. But you can't possibly give a good hitting pitcher that strike zone with men on base. That zone was even a stretch for a poor hitting pitcher with nobody on base. Very true. It's sad that if we had 1-2 more hits in some of these games in the right spot, we'd have 2-3 more wins.
  3. Please, I need the drugs that you are on. They were down by 3 yesterday and tied the game. This team can score runs and thus far, this pitcher doesn't look over powering. Looks like he's missing his spots. Hopefully we're patient enough to take advantage
  4. C'mon, 6-7-8. Get him home here, and we can blunt the momentum a bit
  5. 2 fly balls to the warning track thus far. We are without luck.
  6. As bad as the GS is, I'm glad it cleared the bases. It could have been worse with a couple doubles. 4 runs, while steep for this offense, isn't insurmountable. we have 24 more outs to go. hopefully they'll wake up now.
  7. Definetly frustrating to watch. We cannot seem to catch any sort or break, and then we get things like the 1st inning today. This team just lacks something. It's too uneven to be better than average.
  8. Yeah, I'd have to agree. He's not getting the most out of what should be a very strong staff.
  9. Oh man... 4-0. Great start to the game. Our "master motivator" really got his guys ready to play today, huh....
  10. That ball looked gone on gameday....what happened? Hard hit or no?
  11. yeah, but would we really stoop to that level, after all, look at the last 2B we got from them (sarcasm) Who plays CF for them?
  12. I wish Corey were back up, looking at this mess. Defense aside, right now is Corey really that much better of an option than Macias? I think that actually they are about even right now, but I'd rather have Patterson's defense and pseudo-power threat. That said, Macias hasn't been awful lately. I'll bet he goes 1-3 today.
  13. I wish Corey were back up, looking at this mess.
  14. Well, they still owe us a player from the Sosa deal...
  15. Quickest way to forget about last night= win today. 2 of 3 on the road against a good team is good. We could have just as easily won yesterday and lost Tuesday, so let's win the series, hope AZ doesn't get swept at home, and go into NY reloaded....
  16. I posted this in the game thread. Food for thought.
  17. Definetly a bad move, but the fact of the matter is that Wuertz had pretty much worked himself out of the jam, had strike 3 been called and Barrett not dropped strike 4. A leadoff double to a fast guy isn't the end of the world. After that AB, Baker walked the next 2, and brought in the RHP to fact Burrell, which was the right move given the situation. Wuertz stuck him out twice, and the game might still be on were it not for a physical error and a mental meltdown from our catcher. It's hard to fault Dusty with the way this game ended. Of the pen guys who were left, Wuertz has control issues at times and isn't great against LH's, Mitre isn't a reliever, and Dempster was unavailable. That left Rem, unfortunatly. Hopefully come Friday this won't be an issue anymore.
  18. I don't know...if we had even league average production from LF and CF, I wouldn't care if Blanco was the everyday catcher. Barrett seems to be missing something that most successful catchers have. He's good offensively, but poor defensively, and he doesn't seem to take command of the IF like he should. I'm not pining for Miller/Bako, but unless Barrett shows improvement through next year, I wouldn't keep him around.
  19. No matter how the rule reads, Barrett was foolish to even throw it to 3rd. And then the throw was bad. And he threw it to 3rd too early...plus, he didn't catch strike 4. There's no way that should have been droppped. It was a fastball. Not a slider.
  20. Shouldn't Barrett have just held onto the ball? The bases were loaded; where's Burrell going to go? If he touches 1B, you just step on home, if he sits between 1st and home, toss it to Lee and have Lee run him back or throw back home if Rollins comes down the line. Barrett is not a good catcher, and he basically botched 2 easy plays on one pitch there. No reason for him not to catch the ball clean, and no reason for that stupid throw to ARam, who wasn't even close to 3B.
  21. Only we could lose a game like that......
  22. actually, Dusty's walking them loaded to get to Burrell...
