  1. According to Rotoworld, there's been speculation about Griffey to the Cubs.... It's on the main page. So that's weird....
  2. Would you still not like it if they gave us Brian Giles? :D
  3. Remember Walker playing LF last year in the 9th inning of a blowout game? It was hilarious...
  4. Let's everyone take a deep breath. There will be plenty of time to freak out if/when something actually happens. O:)
  5. for Ryan Meaux. http://www.rotoworld.com/
  6. Does that trade really sound like a Hendry trade? Mitre, Welley, Walker and Pinto for one guy who doesn't really correct any of the issues on the team? I think this is either a beat reporter drumming up a rumor, or it's a smokescreen.
  7. soriano is an improvement over walker, but not a big one. it's not big enough to justify trading good prospects for him, and paying him 3 times more. also, soriano is a butcher in the field, which brings down his value further. the cubs' number one weakness offensively is OBP, getting soriano doesn't address that at all. Not a big improvement? 20-30 more runs and 20-30 more rbi's??? Do you think his extra 12-15 errors make up for, say, 25 extra runs every year? It depends on how many unearned runs are the result of said errors, not to mention increased workload on the pitching staff caused by giving away free outs. That said, if you want to trade for Soriano, Hendry, knock yourself out, but try and include Remlinger in the deal, and don't give up 4 players for Soriano.
  8. If we don't make a trade, maybe Rich Hill, or maybe Novoa. Hill? Whos gonna start? Maybe the club feels that Rusch's experience down the stretch would be benificial. I'm not saying I would send him down. I wouldn't. Just trying to mind read. 'Course, if we make a trade, that could free up room.
  9. If we don't make a trade, maybe Rich Hill, or maybe Novoa.
  10. Oh my. If we get Delucci or Mench back do you feel better about it?
  11. With both Garciaparra and Williamson coming off the 60 day DL, someone also needs to be dropped off the 40 man roster or put on the 60 day DL. Any guesses? Guzman to the 60 day DL.
  12. It still looks stupid. All you do is shift your production from one place to another. Your offense isn't any beter than it was, and $10m only pays for this year of Manny's deal. What about the $20m he makes in 2006-7?
  13. I think it's an excellent example of why Stone would never, ever get hired as a GM. Honestly, he never really says anything that's not rhetorical or general unless it's a game situation. When they ask about player development, potential trades, or anything that requires critical thinking, Stone just repeats himself over, and over, and says just enough to make it appear he knows some insider info. I loved him as a color guy, but as a radio expert/potential GM, I don't care for him, at all. bump to remind people of how idiotic this trade idea is. It's galactically stupid. You trade a 27 yr old entering his prime for a 33 year old at the end of it. All you are doing is shifting production from 3B to LF, since Mueller isn't any better than Murton/Hollandsworth are on average. Plus, you're taking on an insane amount of money. All this deal makes you is older, and it also makes you worse in the long run, since you have less financial flexibility. Stupid trade. That's the kind of poor thinking that gets GM's fired. ARam basically is Manny right now, only cheaper and likely to continue to improve as he hits the peak ages of his career.
  14. I think that counting on 3 guys who are that injury prone, and 2 who are coming off major surgeries to be impact players, or even produce beyond what you already have, is a big risk Hendry is taking. The only one I see contributing big is Wood.
  15. I'll be dissapointed, because you don't have anything guaranteed for you beyond this year, and at the very least he should take Hollandsworth away from Dusty, lest we wreck yet another position player prospect by blocking him with a bad veteran. That said, there are only 2 players that I'd really want, and I don't think we're going to get Dunn or Manny, so there you go.
  16. Damon will like any team that pays him.
  17. I think we do nothing.
  18. This is odd, ESPN News cut in with "Breaking News" to say Manny would not be traded this year. Perhaps they are giving him the day off? What a scoop by the "Boo-Yah, Back-Back-Back" Network...
  19. WOW!! DJAXX for Poster of the Year!!!
  20. At this point, I don't think it affects us. I don't expect Hendry to make any moves.
  21. Can we consolidate some of these threads?
  22. If we're talking about someone Dusty will play over Holly, then yes. I still think Murton should get a shot until he proves he can't handle it, unless of course a monster should come our way (Huff, ManRam). Can't you just see Dusty not playing Huff or someone right away? "We've got to ease the dude in, man. I mean, he doesn't have any experience in our ballpark, and that's big, dude." I say with a fair about of honesty that Dusty would by lynched if he benched Huff. We'd HAVE to find a new manager after that fiasco. Bad choice of words, there. But I agree that Dusty would be in deep trouble if he did that.
