  1. Oooooo AjaxAjaxAjaxAjaxAjax
  2. Jermaine Jones got some tick in a friendly yesterday.
  3. -If MLS sell Landon, they're going to sell him during the winter transfer window, methinks. -Blanco signed with some 2nd division Mexican side, so he won't be coming back to Chicago. I would also like to 2nd the "Nery Castillo is a douche" opinion. The Fire are not well run, at all. Also, Seattle might deal Freddy Ljunberg to RBNY. -USSF isn't even close to resigning Bradley. Gulati hasn't even sat down to meet with him stateside yet. That happens next week. -Eddie Johnson trying to recruit Bradley is about the funniest ish ever. -Freddy Adu is back at Aris in Greece after Benfica and Aris decided to piss around about the terms of his loan and waste 3 weeks of preseason for him. -MLS has been really active in the rumor mill, which is a welcome change, even if it's for pst-prime Euro stars, at least it's guys like Henry and Ronaldinho instead of like Youri Djorkaeff.
  4. Having read through all that, I'm not even sure where to begin. Are PK's ideal? No. Every sport has its overtime quirks. Regular season hockey goes 4v4, NFL regular season games often end with only one team touching the ball, college FB overtime is not exactly the same as the regulation time rules-how are any of these any different? That said, FIFA tried golden goal, and when Italy and Sweden got bounced in 2002 by Senegal and South Korea, FIFA scrapped it. I actually liked the rule, but as TT said, watching bunker v bunker is less enjoyable and you usually end up in PK's anyway. You cant have the teams just play endlessly looking for a goal, either.
  5. Respek for Howard Webb, as well. Aside from the de Jong incident, he did everything he could to try and keep control of a game where one side gooned it up, and the other dove at every opportunity.
  6. How on earth does Robben not chip Casillas? Or at least try to round him. Casillas is the best keeper I've ever seen at going from huge stretches of lulls to flurries of intense action and making the save. I have no idea why he didn't chip him. He was not at an angle at all; Casillas didn't really come out; you should pick a corner and fire if that happens. Since he had no right he spent two strides setting up his left, Casillas STILL guessed wrong, and he didn't elevate the shot. That was just awful. The fact that he didn't bother to dive on the second 1v1 with Puyol hanging on his waist was just filled with delicious, delicious irony.
  7. Wesley Sniejder played his ass off today. They really did deserve a better result. I don't think Spain was much better than the Netherlands today.
  8. You can say that again. Well, my bad feeling about that match was confirmed. Pretty cynical match. I feel really bad for the Dutch; 0-3 in finals (with two losses coming to teams that had not won a World Cup either). I wanted the Netherlands to win, but, that said, I'm fine with Spain. I like their team and they've been the best team for three or so years. Not like Italy winning four years ago, ugh. And two Reds (Torres, Reina) are now champions. Two in extra time, Two to the host nation. The game plan was awful, they were worried about Spain from the beginning and looked empty from the midfield on up. Robin van Persie didn't do anything in 7 games.
  9. Feel awful for Holland right now. Just awful. Arjen Robben ought to start working on his right foot sometime.
  10. Whoops. Guess he does know how. Wasn't he on a yellow?
  11. I don't think Andres Iniesta knows how to shoot.
  12. For a 0-0 game, the second half was pretty entertaining.... ...if you like two choker nations trying to out-choke the other. If Robben had any sort of right foot, he touches around Casillas and finishes the 1st breakaway. Iniesta was lucky to not get tossed. Webb has done well to control a pretty cynical/physical match
  13. It should have been. De Jong makes some of the worst tackles game after game. De Jong cleating someone in the chest was one of the most predictable things about today.
  14. Those are just alleged names on the alleged list. FWIW, Klinsi is still the fed's #1 guy.
  15. If Orlando doesn't match the Redick offer, the Bulls have the best rotation in the East.
  16. Just heard about two "list" candidates for USMNT coach: Bruce Arena Jason Kreis. Don't know about bringing Bruce back, but Kreis midly interests me. We could do better, but I think he's a good long term prospect ETA: I also hear Roberto Martinez is on the list, but that seems like more wishcasting. He's too young and too "up and coming" in the EPL to be interested. If we're canning Bob, I'd like us to look at Aguirre as well.
  17. I would have much more enjoyed the pure hatred that Germany v Holland would have given us, both pre match and during. That said, I want Spain to lose, just because their fans and their country deserve to get ohsoclose and then lose. Their team is dull ass boring. Yeah, Xavi's a wizard. Great player, but I can only watch so much of him and Iniestula just passing laterally between the two of them before I get irritated. La Marca would be so much more entertaining after a loss as well. Holland have the attacking skill to test Spain's backline in a very real way. Spain will get their usual 60% possession, but Holland will be able to hit them on a counter and their defense should be good enough to hold. I'm going to go with 1-1 FT, and Holland in PK's, follwed by Wesley Sneijder and Robin van Persie getting into a fistfight over the Jules Rimet trophy while Dirk Kuyt just stands there.
  18. Why the F is Rongen the one trying to convince Hoyos to play for us?
  19. Nice font, owner of a major sports team.
  20. This is clownery. I hope after he spurns Cleveland they just march down to his billboard and burn it to ashes. What a douche.
  21. The thing I like best about Yura is that he shoots whenever he's within the same zip code of goal. You can coach tactics and such, but that innate aggressiveness is something most of our strike options lack.
  22. Germany/Netherlands would be so, so epic.
  23. The big threat to Clint going to Milan is they're looking at Keisuke Honda too. Honda would probably be more expensive. Honda's a very good player. I'd think Milan would be better off with Clint, though, from a financial, PR and tactical perspective Wolf, I still owe you a T Shirt for my stupid Manchester United bet last summer.
  24. Wouldn't that force out Gooch? I think it's one signing per year, and Gooch has Belgish citizenship and holds an EU passport as well.
  25. Deuce to Milan would either be amazing or tragic. With Serie A restricting teams to only 1 non EU signing, if they spent it on Clint that would truly be a watershed moment. He could really thrive in that league. I'd love him to get out of England, actually, since I think 4 more years of EPL might run him down too much. No chance Bradley goes to Fulham, but the fact that he's in the rumor mill says something about our worldwide rep's progress. Watched LAG/SSFC last night...at least 4 NT prospects play for the 'Gals: Bowen, Stephens, Gonzalez and Franklin. I like this Bowen thing. Gonzalez needs a serious look, either against Brasil or Poland in the fall. Franklin should be brought into Camp Cupcake and Stephens might be nothing more than depth, but I like the cut of his jib
