Okay, that was just about as badly as we could play and we're down 1-0... Clint looks on today, at least. He's the only US player showing something today. Ghana's team shape is piss poor. There have been openings to exploit. They've dominated possession because we're playing like jackasses. We're going to get opportunities today. We have to capitalize and watch the counter.

He was in Holland for the friendly and said he still wants to regardless of whether or not he'll ever get to play in a World Cup. Although with this injury, it's a real possibility he isn't as good as Edu, Clark, Torres or Feilhaber anymore. I'd bet we'll see him in next year's Gold Cup, unless his leg just never heals. That will be for a spot in the Confed Cup right? Yeah. We should see the full "A" side for that one.

I bet 1 million internets that everyone in this thread pissing and moaning about Hendry giving Z the contract extension would have been absolutely up in arms had Hendry let Z walk in FA. -
Considering we've gotten exactly nothing useful from the supporting striker spot, I would say a lot. I think Davies would stretch the backline (something Findley does in theory), but would actually do something useful when given an opportunity. Findley has been fed some really great passes, but hasn't done anything with them, because tactically, his mind isn't fast enough for this level and his decision making is subpar. His speed then becomes less and less useful as the game goes on, because teams figure out he can't hurt you too badly. He's too tentative. Davies has the mental tenacity, decision making ability, arrogance and pace you want in a support striker. If you want to play the hypothetical game, though, imagine Giuseppe Rossi, Neven Subotic and Jermaine Jones all on this roster. We'd have a shot to win the whole thing. Hell, even with just Jones and Davies I'd rate us as able.

There are idiots at BigSoccer advocating not starting Clint and Jozy since "they will be tired". Utter stupidity. I think we'll see Findley back in the lineup, and I bet you see the same back four, meaning Gooch sits.

I'm pretty sure he was yelling. During last summer's Spain game, you could hear him laughing and hooting off mic when Clint scored the 2nd goal. He's still a douche though.

So I read this and had to look it up. There are MLB players who make more per year than MLS made in television revenue in 2008. Average take per team was under $1 million. The national television contracts TBS and Fox have with MLB are 20 times that per year. ESPN is another 10 or so times the league total per year. How many individual teams have local television deals worth more than that? The Mariners get over $40 million a year for their local television rights, and they're maybe barely in the top 10 in the league Investment in MLS is up and will continue to trend up. Advertisers see the success of SSFC and look at the attendance figures, and see a worthwhile investment. MLS will never, ever command MLB TV contract numbers in our lifetime, but the league continues to grow steadily.

Some quick thoughts on Ghana: -Not great finishers. They move well and find those seams and spaces between zones, but they don't have a natural finisher. -Kevin Prince-Boateng is pretty damn good. Their defense is fast but they suck in transition. -Not much of a bench, really. Maybe the quick turnaround hurts them. I see this being a very tense affair. Extra time might be needed. Who are our 5 PK takers?
