  1. So...Honduras, then? I almost feel at peace with that, since it makes for a stronger CONCACAF, which we need to continue to improve.
  2. Holy jeebus, just saw those goals. Well taken!
  3. The two thin blue lines need to be white instead of blue. Or keep the two thin blue lines but make the wide stripe white. I think the latter would make a big difference. Someone on BS posted a pic showing every USMNT kit ever. The sash actually appears a bunch of times, so it Nike's trying to establish that as our tradition, I get it and am fine with it, but the all-obsidian sash is just off. I wonder if the lettering will be gold or black.
  4. I want to like that kit, but it looks like T&T's kit. Somethings....off about it.
  5. Last year FCD didn't have a ticket staff, apparently, which murdered their efforts to market the team. This past offseason they really worked their lists hard, and it paid off. Dallas should be an awesome market, and PHP is a nice place. Hopefully their attendance continues to stay strong.
  6. Word on the street is that he's got some ligament damage. Yeah he just tweeted that he got some bad news today that will come out tomorrow. Sucks for Stu. The de Jong tackle was around this time last year, too.
  7. Word on the street is that he's got some ligament damage.
  8. Rongen. Permanently on my ish list. FCD is better than Chicago even 10 v 11. Chicago and Columbus also need to get new jersey sponsors. The kits just look weird with a big blank space.
  9. MLS is going to have to be the single biggest factor in our national team's development. So far, every game today has been pretty damn good. Not a ton of hack defending so far, and the crowds in every game have been good to excellent. It's been exciting to watch the league take its steps so far. Even FCD has a good crowd tonight.
  10. Brek Shea just got a criminally horrible red. Still excited about it, but watching him tonight, he's very much raw when it comes to playing CB. I hope Schellas has the patience to stick with him while he learns how to read the game from that position.
  11. Davies is going to run riot in the league. Even with the complete lack of 1st team ball for almost 18 months, he's probably the best striker in the league. EDIT: Portland getting worked like a cheap date. 3-0 in the 31st
  12. CD9 on in DC
  13. Ohmygod love Brek Shea at CB and this game is only in the 5th minute EDIT: of course after I post this, he tries some kind of spin move, gets dispossessed and is only bailed out by the fact that Chicago are terrible.
  14. Free Direct Kick preview today Watching Barca/Getafe on GolTV...the constant blowing of Barca by everyone is getting a little old. They're also a very, very whiny team at home, despite getting every call.
  15. Nice finish by Clint. FSC reported Holden went to the hospital after the game. Hopefully just for stitches.
  16. He best not have broken his leg again. It's a good thing we're deepest in central midfield.
  17. Like: Chandler Dislike x 1000: Sacha being anywhere near the roster right now. We have at least 8 mids better than him. Also, I wish we could see Bobby Convey at left back internationally. It's not like we're overwhelmed with options there.
  18. What are they missing? Creative central mid and an out and out striker? Those don't grow on MLS trees. Zakuani was running Bex ragged in the first half and occupied Landon admirably in the second half, Ozzie Alonso is maybe the best defensive mid in the league, Keller still good, Montero good...they're missing something though. It seemed there was usually a giant gap in between the midfield and their forwards last night. Montero should be playing slightly withdrawn off of a better target guy than White, and they need a better linking mid. Alonso is a good destroyer, Zakuani can cause problems on the flank...Fernandez needs to be better, I guess.
  19. Seattle Sounders: Masters of the dry hump
  20. Landon is getting kicked around a bit tonight. Not sure I like that. On the positive side, RSL up 1-0 at Rio Tinto in the 1st leg.
  21. Any MLS love for tomorrow's opening match? Also, in great news for USMNT, FC Dallas look like they're going to permanently move Brek Shea to CB.
  22. No it's not. In fact the whole problem is you're *not* using your brain. Instead you're engaging in the mindless, reflexive groupthink that says, "anything even vaguely anti-sabermetric must automatically be a big huge pile of rubbish that deserves unbridled scorn". Hold on, let me check with Mojo and imb to see what I should respond with...
  23. I'm not supporting anything. I'm laughing at all of the colossal leaps to judgement going on here. Heck one person intimated that this book seeks to disprove sabermetrics because one time, a bird got hit with a baseball. Seriously? That's what you expect this book is about? I think the book is about what the authors and publishers say its about. Which is everything we're mocking. If you think you can learn something from a book that's basically going to read like a transcript of Mike and the Mad Dog, knock yourself out. All you're going to learn is that the author, and people like him, are colossally stupid
