  1. Let's just hope their legal team is working on contingency. No, money down.
  2. The spine of that team sucks. Even with Alonso in it. Not for nothing, but they should jettison one of their attackers and find a decent CM or CB this offseason. They've lost their last 4 games by like a combined 12-2 or something crazy like that. Also, the Fire have the least creative supporters section in the history of the game. Just 90 minutes of them saying "Fire" over and over. And that wasn't a PK. Embarrassing call from the ref, sweet PK take from Magee.
  3. You take that back about Rex. He was magic.
  4. They had the most pathetic UEFA qualifying group in human history and rampaged through it, and thus their point total is appropriately overinflated. I want in their group next summer. They have no business being a seeded team. Neither does Columbia or really Uruguay, considering they couldn't even qualify outright. Actually, Switzerland did worse in their group than the Netherlands did in theirs. Switzerland also failed to qualify for Euro 2012, which ended up going better for them than the Netherlands going 0-3. The Netherlands group isn't much better. Jesus. It's like a Hex with Carribbean teams.

  6. The team office reserved the tickets, which was and is standard protocol when facing an elimination game. Which was reported at the time, and conveniently ignored by our meatball press.
  7. Can we talk for a minute about how Panama played the last 8 minutes of the game incredibly stupidly? Why the hell are you throwing players into the attack when one goal knocks you out with no time to respond? Dely Valdes should be fired for that.
  8. Absolutely none. Rafa would have owned goal'd his team before Mexico scored to help us.
  9. That sounds like another awful team.
  10. That was the goal of the Hex, and one of the best goals given the circumstance that I've ever seen.
  11. I do, actually. I don't think Sacha is good enough to play at the international level. He's not had a good senior NT performance since the home MEX match in 2009; he's had multiple opportunities to make himself a starter since and failed miserably. He then failed to take advantage of lifelines handed to him by both Bradley and JK; out of position on the wing or not, he couldn't even show basic competence out there. I think it's mostly a mental/speed of thought thing with him, but it is what it is. He's a depth guy. He wouldn't even have been called in had Bradley, Dempsey, EJ and FJ not been hurt. Mix has better touch and thinks much faster than Sacha. Plus, if we're picking nits, they don't really play the same role for club or country.
  12. Thoughts: -Jamaica sucks. Every cycle we hear this and that about athleticism and speed, but unfortunately for them none of them can play soccer. -LOL @ Mexico for starting the rotting corpse of Rafa Marquez. -That said, Mexico's attack already looks a billion times better.
  13. These a-holes are going to lose.
  14. Dempsey back as a 2nd half sub for SSFC... ...he fricking hates it there. The only way his body language could express it more clearly is if he choked Yedlin to death with a scarf on the field. I'm sure he's glad he got paid, and I'm sure his family is happier stateside, but he looks like a miserable bastard on the field everytime I've seen him there for Seattle thus far.
  15. It's weird to see PNC Park full.
  16. The move to Sunderland was stupid then, and it's stupid now.
  17. He's partnered up with CAA. I'll be shocked if he's not extremely successful myself. Meh. Cano'd better hope that he's just a face and a name and that someone actually qualified is doing the work. These execs deal with Scott Boras, Tom Condon and Art Tellum; do you really think they won't be able to work over someone with no experience in this field? This could turn out gloriously bad.
  18. /hires Greg Maddux Somewhere, Barry Rozner is laughing and denting his fingers in anticipation. /then goes and resumes throwing darts at an Aramis Ramirez poster.
  19. I'm not sure what he'll get, but I'm very much looking forward to Jay-Z's attempt at being an agent mirroring Master P's attempt at being an agent.
  20. Why would Kansas City be a destination? Did I miss something with Alex Smith? Because Josh Freeman really sucks.
  21. I'm not sure why it's far fetched to feel that Vogelbach might end up being a better pro than Rizzo.
  22. That, and they had terrible luck. Stafford fumbles to himself on the goal line? F that. Of the three picks, one was a good play by the safety, one underthrow b/c he rushed it, and one overthrow because he tried to throw it through Alshon. It happens. The fumble was bad too. He has to have a better internal clock, even with an improved o-line. Yeah, forgot about that. He was definitely pressing as soon as he threw the first pick. Then he started holding the ball too long.
