  2. Just read that Middlebrooks may be DL bound with a bad hammy, with Nick Punto (and Lillibridge) as his immediate backup. May just need rest and to miss a couple games around the AS break, but if it's a tear, Sox have nobody on their 40 man, apparently, who can be called up w/o making a move on the 40 man. If we weren't contending with Stewart on the DL, could have expanded/accelerated a potential Garza package?
  3. Stairs goes deep. First hit.
  4. I just Sharpie'd it on the back of my button-down. The boss is sure to be amused.
  5. Seriously? Are ya twelve? Point: Consider the source Counterpoint:Know your audience
  6. Last time the CUBS drew 8 walks in a game.... Sun 12 Apr 09 (10 walks) in an 6-4 win at Milwaukee Go CUBS !! That must not have been a Dusty team?
  7. The new Sports Illustrated has a fun article on defensive metrics and how they're finally being embraced by MLB front offices. I found this nugget to be especially interesting, in reference to John Dewan's Plus/Minus Runs Saved metric: There's certainly appeal to having Soriano's bat a second base, but it seems he may indeed have similar/better value to the Cubs by saving runs in left field.

  9. Um...... does Tim generate ad revenue per click or per load/page view? Something to keep in mind re: adblock.
  10. I think you misread. It is: Kevin Youkilis hits FOUR kids. That still doesn't make sense. I think you misread too. It is: Kevin Youkilis hit FOR kids. I think what he meant to write was: "Kevin Youkilis hits FOR FORTY kids."
  11. Stupid question alert: How do I upgrade to Premium? I am having a difficult time finding a link. [Edited.]
  12. Meh. Are you kidding me? 7.5/10 I guess there's no accounting for taste, right?
  13. 12th? Your league sucks. reyes, pujols, soriano, santana, ortiz, howard, sizemore, beltran, arod, vlad, wright, then cabrera and crawford to me at 12/13 why does that suck? Pujols, Reyes, Santana, ARod, Soriano, Howard, Utley, Crawford, Ortiz, Beltran, Wright, Guerrero, Cabrera (13th) in my league. We sub OPS for BA, though... (OPS, H, R, HR, RBI, SB).
  14. Matt Murton?
  15. I would change this to "The evolution of Sabermetrics has helped...." The "evolution" has helped. Not "Sabermetrics" have helped.... [/nitpick]
  16. You don't get it. No one is saying Grieve is great, or should start. All he has to do is take a walk to be an improvement over what has been coming off the bench. It's not like anyone on the bench is that much better (aside from Cedeno), particularly Macias. Swapping out Macias for Grieve would be a world of improvement. Grieve is more of a major league player than Macias is or Wilson was, and they were on the team. I saw Grieve play at a game at Round Rock. Poor attitude / body language. Seemed unprofessional to me. While I don't like Macias' role with the Cubs, but I'd prefer his hustle and effort to seeing Grieve at Wrigley. Gee, you think that's what all the other teams see too. But he takes a walk. Nothing worse than experts who never see a guy play. Seriously, thanks for your insight. I was thinking I was alone in not think Big Ben was the salvation. Ted, is that you??!
