  1. Pre-emptive and usually wrong? Um, maybe you didn't notice, but Dusty's first choice was to insert Neifi into the lineup. He's used Neifi as his go to guy before in tight spots, and clearly has an affinity for Neifi. Anybody expressing concern about Neifi getting more playing time due to this is absolutely justified. Has it ever been pointed out here that Neifi is making a serious run at the title of worst hitter in the history of baseball? Substituting Neifi for anyone in your lineup is a bad thing, substituting Neifi for Lee is worthy of crying.
  2. This would be a great time to play the Marlins and Royals for about 4 weeks straight.
  3. Absolutely not. Not even a little bit.
  4. So far they've played the Marlins, Nationals, Giants, D-Backs, and Brewers. I wouldn't put too much stock in their quick start.
  5. We? Good luck getting me to chip in.
  6. Haha, well some game threads posts can help you out alot. [padding post count]Yep, what he said.[/padding post count]
  7. Yes, it is. Looks like he's hitting well. Oh how the mighty can fall.
  8. Trivia q: who was the premium pitcher ($2.3M in 1999) off of whom he hit BOTH grannies? Ooh! Ooh! Ooh! I know. Were his initials Chan Ho Park?
  9. Sure, after he was shipped to Montreal to waste away. He was much, much better the 3 seasons before that. Was he injured, or what? I'd ask an Expos fan, but we all know there aren't any of those around.
  10. What happened to him?
  11. I think Pierre should concentrate his efforts on getting on base. After he's mastered that, then we can worry about the steals.
  12. Haha. Yeah, we'll probably have to convert one of our starting pitcher to a reliever, and one of our reliever to be a closer, since we don't have a closer yet. We need a catcher too. Any fat guys out there with decent knees and a good arm?
  13. Add Peralta to that list, and Felipe Lopez was very close. Peralta, Young, Lopez and Tejada combined don't make what Jeter makes. You can disagree if you wish, but Jeter is my choice for most overpaid player in baseball. Jeter is overpaid but he's still a valuable player, unlike Beltre, who has turned into a useless pile of puke. He always was one. He turned into a ballplayer for a season. Seattle's pretty stupid.
  14. Tear it down! Tear it down! Tear it down!
  15. Beltre. I don't even think it's close.
  16. Yeah, there are billboards here that say Miller Lite is "Chicago's Beer" Putting it in print don't make it true. Exactly. We all know how much Miller Lite sucks.
  17. Pedro shouldn't even be in this group if you go back 20 years, then it would be Eckersly or Schmoltz on this list Schmoltz being the most versitile. Overall Clemens moist feared Maddox most frustrating to face. Lights out good Eckersly. The one I would not a fast ball thrown at my head Randy Pedro has a career ERA+ of 166, Eck's at 116 (including a season in which it was a staggering 606). I can only assume your "Schmoltz" is actually John Smoltz, who sports a 126 for his career and never once as a starter had a good enough season to compare to Pedro's average.
  18. And he punched a kid in the face on his way back to the dugout.
  19. During his hitless streak to start the season, I seem to recall many hard-hit balls coming off his bat. Not saying Jones is good, just saying he did fall on a bit of hard luck.
  20. Her panties are probably worth more than your car.
  21. My vote is for none of them. There would be no better message to clean up this game than to have Mr 70, his trusty sidekick, and the all-time king playing euchre with Pete Rose somewhere lamenting their fate. Again..... If you're going to keep those three out, then you'd better be prepared to scrutinize every single player from that generation. Sosa, McGwire, and Bonds were the top of the class, breaking records, etc. So there was alot of scrutiny, and alot of digging done on those players. Unless you're going to do that type of digging for EVERYONE, then I say leave them alone, and move on. We're talking about the HOF. How many more are going to be eligible and worthy of votes? They will all be scrutinized. Just because had 500+ HR during that era won't guarantee admission.
  22. How long has he been married? He'd be pretty silly to not have a prenup. Just for the record, I asked my wife for her take and her response was: "Honey, if you had his money, you could buy whatever you want. Lord knows I'd be doing the same."
