  1. Why do you think he needs to go? A DUI does not equal substance abuse problems.
  2. Looks like possession of marijuana and conspiracy to commit murder as well.
  3. Wily Mo is a poor man's Glenallen Hill.
  4. I would like to see them shut down Z, Prior, Lee, Aramis, and Barrett. Hell, shut down everyone and mix-and-match players from West Tenn and Iowa to fill out the roster.
  5. Neifi is Neifi-light.
  6. He was my pick to click in the game thread. Edit: Walker, that is.
  7. The Cubs have a lot the Dodgers could use at the moment. They've reportedly expressed interest in Maddux. They have the middle relief help that LA could use. Dempster may interest them as a closer. And with Kent out Todd Walker might even interest them. If the rumors of bad blood between Colletti and the Cubs are true, I don't see much happening on this front. It's become quite funny to me. We have all of their missing pieces.
  8. Again, Wells/Rios DON'T have poor plate patient, they aren't exactly great, but there not poor. CPatt is has POOR plate patient. What is the acceptable range to be considered poor? Patterson's career IsoD is 40, Wells is at 48, Rios is at 50. For comparison to a Cubs player who I think has poor plate patience, Juan Pierre's career IsoD is 49.
  9. What was it he said about Mariotti again? Isolated incident, probably. Wait, was there something about Magglio? Probably just twice. Huh? ARod and Nomar too? If you think Ozzie was insinuating that Jay was gay, you are mistaken. This subject has been beaten to death, so I find it hard to believe people still think Ozzie was calling him gay. It's a word people use nowadays. It doesn't even mean gay anymore. The people who were the LEAST offended by this was the gay community. Players, coaches, and White Sox fans all love the guy. It's the fans of every other team that seem to hate him. Must be ring envy. Go figure. Ring envy? Does that also explain why Giants fans like Bonds? I didn't like Ozzie as a player, and I despised him when he coached with the Marlins long before the playoffs or WS. It has absolutely nothing to do with the ring. You are mistaken to think that Ozzie is this misunderstood cute and cuddly teddy bear that the media and jealous, rabid fans have painted into a monster. The gay community didn't care about Ozzie's comments because the gay community either already sees Ozzie as a bigot or more likely, just doesn't give a damn about him or his opinions.
  10. It's not just fans. It's 99% of the media and Big George. And I'd bet some other higher ups share the doubts. Is it because ARod didn't go face first into the stands? I just don't get it.

  12. Time for a more original name for the Sox. Boston or Chicago?
  13. Remember saying that after 2003 regarding Zambrano, Prior, and Wood? I sure as hell did.
  14. ESPN quoted Yankees management saying that trading A-Rod would be "idiotic." Frankly, I think it's just Yankees fans being Yankees fans. They want all their players to be Ruth, Gehrig and Dimaggio all rolled into one. And woe be to the player who doesn't do so. ARod's doing a pretty good job of being today's Gehrig or Dimaggio.
  15. Thanks, that's the story I was thinking of.
  16. Derrek Lee's 2005 is the exact reason I don't buy it. I wonder if the assumption was that each position was filled with players performing right at the league average. I don't remember. Anyway, I believe the assertion was that the difference was a handful of runs over the course of a season, not a single run per game.
  17. Not sure what you saw on TV, but Maddux doesn't have a NTC, he just has a handshake agreement that Hendry will consult him and get approval on any trade. So did he said he'd be willing to accept a trade to a contender? If so, I guess I'm not really surprised. If he can pitch 2-3 months for a contender and get another shot at a WS ring rather than toil along with this bottom-feeding group, I don't blame him. That said, given his contract & his outings since April, I'm not sure who would want his services or how much help he would be. Maybe somebody has the link, but it was reported 2-3 weeks ago that he does in fact have a NTC.
  18. Wow, 2 old guys pitching. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Walker is my pick to click. Say hello to 1-4, OldLOL.
  19. I disagree that the lineup order would improve this team much. Wow Thanks for the insight. OBP off all of those spots in the lineup with current players and splits included. Pierre (320), Barrett (399), Lee (396), Aramis (324), Jones/Murton (372), Walker (356), Jones/Murton (287), Cedeno (280). no need for the sarcasm just because your argument has been proven wrong by dozens of people who do nothing but analyze baseball. Not to jump into the fray...but...(jumps)...so would these same people say it makes no difference if you hit the pitcher and Neifi in front of Lee? I think it makes a difference...it doesnt' make this mess of a team a contender, but how Dusty constructs a line up does make a diffefrence. Actually, over the course of a season, their studies lead them to believe the difference would be negligible. Not that I subscribe to the theory, just saying.
  20. This had better not be close.
  21. You and I must have been watching different teams. http://www.baseball-reference.com/b/bartocl01.shtml
