  1. I'd just quote this post, but I think that might qualify as "groupthink." By the way, have I mentioned that the next groupthink meeting is for this Thursday at 4:00. I can't make it -- just let me know if I should be changing the way I think later
  2. extrapolation how many times did Soriano strike out instead of moving along a runner? 30 (25 with a man on 1st, 5 with guys on 1st and 2nd) I'll assume roughly a third of those came with 2 outs, so 20 times he failed to move the runner how many double plays did Soriano hit into? 9 what's this all mean? he made about the same number of outs for the team by striking out with guys on base
  3. and there's our proof that the sports guy is a crack head
  4. I like Felix a whole bunch, and I want him given every opportunity to succeed. That said, I'd deal him in a heartbeat for the right pieces. The same could be said for anyone in the system. If anyone advocates trading Felix over Hill or Soto it's because it would be a whole lot easier to replace Pie. Hill is a budding #2 starter, and Soto looks to be an above average catcher both offensively and defensively.
  5. now that Hill has 1 full season under his belt, let him prove he's not a #2 and maybe Lilly pitched a bit over his head last season, but if those are #3 numbers...
  6. I thought the Goldman Sachs guys negotiated his deal. Goldman Sachs guys negotiated A-Rod talking to Hank "I can't shut up!" Steinbummer. A-Rod basically negotiated his own deal, as Yanks did not want Boras in the room. Boras basically handled the final drafting of the deal. However, Boras was the Agent, so he still gets his cut. That's closer to the version I heard, although I'm sure it was Warren Buffett who advised ARod to re-open the lines of communication with Hank. I don't know exactly what role GS played.
  7. what the...
  8. I must be once again thinking of a different Brian Roberts. Giving up Murton, Gallagher, and Patterson for a MARGINAL upgrade over status quo?
  9. that's a whole lot of people you shouldn't be comparing in your comparison
  10. yeah, doesn't bother me one bit
  11. We should never let facts get in the way of a good argument.
  12. it'd be pretty sweet if the Cubs offered him a contract
  13. I wish people could convince top talent to come to Iowa City AND stay there
  14. Another thing to consider here is part of Soto's hype is centered around the fact that he's very good at his position defensively. I don't expect 389/433/667 over a full season from him by any means, but there are plenty of signs pointing to him having a much better translation to the MLB because of his overall game. DuBois was always a 1-trick pony.
  15. you know him as Joe the Policeman on the What's Goin Down episode of That's My Mama
  16. Yeah it's not often a guy drops 20 pounds and is accused of taking steroids that same season. I'd take me some steroids if it would help me drop 20
  17. How bad off is Baltimore's 40 man that they can afford to take on 10+ more guys in exchange for Tejada, Bedard, and Roberts?
  18. because the ones providing the stuff worked there
  19. 362/410/563/973 deserves a chance to be in the lineup, I don't care in which spot
  20. Mora? I haven't seen it in quite a few months, so I'm guessing that it's still there. I wish I could crack your account and change it. I could put all manner of embarrassing things in your sig, and you'd never be the wiser. you still have those naked pictures of me?
