  1. thanks, Brian. EI free weeks are a beautiful thing for tightasses like me
  2. I'm in North Liberty but grew up in that area. most of my family went/goes to Starmont and I have several relatives that are good friends of his. I played softball against him and his dad for a few years as well, but I haven't seen either in probably 3 years had many a friend in the strawberry area his mom used to work with me in manchester, the family on both sides definitely has baseball blood in cedar falls now, did you go to starmont? sure did, class of 92

  4. I was thinking about that watching the all star game and my son made a comment about how old Niekro was. he about crapped himself when I told him I used to watch him pitch. not a lot of strain on the arm/shoulder throwing nothing but a knuckler
  5. No, just a team with Ronny Cedeno on it. Garth Brooks would be an upgrade over Cedeno. your feeble attempt at humor just cost you any shred of credibility you ever had
  6. last I heard was that 600k would probably be the magic number to get him to sign
  7. Brewer fan coming in peace. ;) To answer your question, Sheets has pretty much always been a strict 2-pitch pitcher, but he's experimented with other pitches. Most notably, he's tried throwing a change-up the past couple years, but it's a pitch he'll only show to the most elite hitters (mostly Pujols, but I'm sure guys like ARam and Lee have seen it a couple times). Since he's never really been able to throw it effectively, he only throws it when it's least expected. You'll see it maybe 2-3 times a game, unless he can't drop his curveball in for strikes. he's good enough that he doesn't really need more than 2 pitches
  8. doesn't seem like a good ballpark for him to pitch in
  9. good thing they don't play until tomorrow, I'm gonna take a nap
  10. there are few baseball analysts I dislike more than Orel. he's absolutely terrible did we just become best friends? (I've never been more excited to see a new movie than I am about Step Brothers)
  11. can we still refer to him as MF?

  13. professional athletes used to do some awfully weird things away from the field
  14. my kids have been going to I-Cubs games with me since they were around 1 year old and look forward to going back every chance we can get. they don't have their eyes on the action at all times, so I always sit between the batter and them (usually down the left field line). my 6 year old daughter is obsessed with meeting Fukudome, and my 8 year old son keeps score and asks questions throughout the entire game. they enjoy the hell out of the experience.
  15. I'm not quite sure how to take that... :-k
  16. Radomski moved his old broken TV and found a few more receipts for HGH shipments to Clemens and others http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3491931&campaign=rss&source=ESPNHeadlines
  17. I spent all of my time in my mom's basement. the occasional joke over being Izturised is one thing, this is beating a dead horse. Edmonds gay jokes have been tossed around more than Paris Hilton and haven't been funny for quite a while now. it's a tired old unoriginal act.
  18. I'd like to see him in Des Moines, but looks like they're out of town after this weekend
  19. it was more hilariouser than the only other one I've ever seen
  20. That doesnt mean someone wont give him a look. He is a former top 10 pick, and a rule 5 doesnt involve a lot of commitment. Your basically inviting him to ST, and if it doesnt work out, he goes back to Daytona. it very much means someone won't give him a look
  21. just because he loses his role in the rotation here doesn't mean he wouldn't be welcome in rotations elsewhere. as "awful" as he's been, he's still better than the 4 or 5 starters most teams have
  22. Didn't it just alternate between AL/NL every year? yes, which was also idiotic. HFA should, in some way, be based on the merit of the two teams involved, not a rotating schedule or an exhibition game or always played in the Superdome on turf
  23. my thumbs are going to get worn out changing back and forth from the MLB channel and Big Ten Network all the time
  24. damn you, arod, for buying stuff. we should all take note and feel guilty for spending money we earn on stuff for ourselves
  25. for putting all those guys on base? 4 hits, 3 BBs in 3 innings isn't all that spectacular (and yes, I realize 2 were intentional). he threw 42 pitches, and only half were strikes
