  1. Hester's silly sometimes
  2. we'll need Teix to back him up
  3. be careful so you don't pull a muscle trying to pat yourself on the back
  4. Sorry to derail the thread, and this may seem like a stupid question, but what's VORP? Value Over Replacement Player. The number of runs contributed beyond what a replacement-level player at the same position would contribute if given the same percentage of team plate appearances. VORP scores do not consider the quality of a player's defense. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/glossary/index.php?search=vorp
  5. that video made me despise Danny Almonte
  6. I'm guessing it's been around 10 years since I've watched SC
  7. I'd sure love to see Hendry sell high with Theriot this offseason, especially if he has a decent playoff showing. this lineup with Jimmy Rollins at SS next season would be even more delicious
  8. no assumptions, it's my little way of finding redemption for that deal
  9. not sure that balances it out it does in my mind
  10. the compensation for letting Pierre go was Josh Donaldson who was then traded for Rich Harden. (Murton/Gallagher/Patterson had to be included to get Gaudin too)
  11. he sure looks like he's eaten his fair share of Aussies
  12. what, did you guys call each other?
  13. I don't even want to see it when they win and are winded. it adds nothing of value to the telecast
  14. I flew over Milwaukee once, and the people looked really lame
  15. I long for the day when athletes are never interviewed They interviewed the US runner last night that finished 2nd to Usain Bolt but was DQ'd, and he came off like a jerk, but considering he'd just found out that he was DQ'd and was not getting a silver medal, that's understandable. My wife and I were both pretty ticked that they'd interview him right then. Terrible. When did you find out? Just now. What are you going to do? Protest. You are going to protest? Yeah, why not? I don't think he came across as a jerk. I think he came across as a guy who was coming to grips with losing a race. I agree, I genuinely felt bad for the guy
  16. 162 game averages put Gwynn at 209 hits and Dunn at 137 (-72). they also put Gwynn at 52 BBs and Dunn at 113 (+61). when you consider what happens to the balls Dunn puts in play vs Gwynn, total bases are averaged at 283 for Gwynn and 289 for Dunn (+6). I tend to think a hitter has had success when he does not make an out, and he's even more successful when he does not make an out and gets more than 1 base as a result
  17. I long for the day when athletes are never interviewed
  18. what was? I see you have a lot of free time on your hands. that doesn't help
  19. that was not the way to do it, Stros
