  1. Something I was thinking about the other day: Could Schuerholz be convinced to leave his situation for maybe a team presidency position, or do you think his freedom in his position has made him a little too comfortable to consider a move?
  2. If it takes Pie, Hill, Williams, and Cedeno, I will gladly help them pack. I will help them find new places to live, and I may even help them pick out the drapes. Going beyond that may be a bit excessive, but that would depend on who player #5 would be.
  3. When financial issues are concerned, most GMs do not have "free reign".
  4. You mean with a little more speed, we could have won 79.2-79.4 games instead of a paltry 79? :D
  5. I was going to let that one slide...
  6. I just voted then realized I haven't sent out a single card in nearly a decade.
  7. Iowa City got that stuff yesterday. So while I am at work today, yesterday's poll answer would be "not me". Then again, remote access sucks. Even when I play hooky I have to work.
  8. Dangit, I voted for Crash before noticing Charles Nelson Reilly.
  9. Good. He's nowhere near the pitcher he used to be. Because of my Cardinal friends putting him on a pedestal over the past few years, I love getting the chance to tee off on him regularly. (0-4, 7.48 ERA against us last year)
  10. I believe someone posted an article with quotes from Von Joshua right around the time Murton was called up last season, and I wish they would post it again if they still have a link. From the way he speaks of Murton's work ethic and desire to constantly improve, I do not consider him to be someone we need to worry too much about. I expect him to put up numbers very similar to what he had last year on a consistent basis for several years.
  11. I just noticed this on rotoworld. The Orioles are moving closer to signing Jeff Conine to a one-year deal worth about $1.5 million. How is Miggy liking their direction now? Dec. 9 - 4:43 am et
  12. How true that could be. Beano Cook was on ESPN yesterday and basically said Bob Griese would have amounted to nothing had it not been for the coaching staff he had in the NFL (specifically Shula). I thought of how the wrong system has ruined many "sure thing" QBs over the years, and I think this may be something to consider when discussing Corey. We haven't exactly had the best hitting coaches for him over the past few years, and he didn't get the opportunity to spend much time with Von Joshua or anyone else in the minors. I think a change of scenery is best for him because Petland, Matthews, and Cline aren't getting through.
  13. He came off the juice and posted the 2nd highest SLG of his career? I don't think so. He either was not on the juice, the juice wasn't doing much, or he was good enough to not get caught (maybe swapped urine samples with Palmeiro). I'll still take him.
  14. That helps explain things. And I was thinking they were completely nuts.
  15. What a novel concept. Maybe we should explore that one...
  16. I think you are going way overboard here. Vidro is an enormous risk, but at least he brings along with him the chance for very good production. With Neifi you are guaranteed crap. And Neifi would always be the fallback if Vidro did indeed fail. Trading Corey for him would be a risk, but nothing close to a guaranteed failure or dumb. I would rather take the chance of getting something out there than guarantee absolute failure, which is what Neifi does. If Vidro cannot play, which many close to him are sure of, Neifi becomes a much better option. That's not going overboard, that's being realistic. Neifi at 2B is better than playing with 8.
  17. NO, NO, NO. If Walker gets dealt for Bradley who would you rather see at 2B? Neifi or Vidro? I'm thinking Bowden would be dumb enough to take Patterson for Vidro btw. 1) I would rather have Neifi and 2) We would be dumb to give up Patterson for Vidro. Vidro has a serious knee injury that may cause him to never produce again, if he is even able to play again.
  18. Sure, if you don't mind waiting until May to have someone in RF.
  19. Nope. Edit: My tears were for Nomar only.
  20. 2005 just called and says this smells a whole lot worse...
  21. NO, NO, NO. The Nats are convinced he won't produce at a high level again, if he ever plays again.
  22. I believe Manny's preference is NY (Yankees, not Mets) I don't see that happening at all. Yankees don't have enough to get him, I believe. I think Manny wants to get as far away from Boston as he can /the reason why he wants to go out West. Oh, I know that won't happen (unless the Yankees will send back ARod and Jeter and pay their salaries). I'm just saying that's what his preference is.
