it doesnt help that we keep passing the ball back to our defenders. EJ with a good look.

Agreed Dempsey better be substituted in for him in the second half and should start the next game if he shows anything. i agree with EJ in, and JOB can help too, but i am pissed dmb is still there (edit: i wanted dempsey in as well). we need to get convey/lewis involved more.

1-1 at HT. i think i'd take a draw at the end of this one. iran is no push-over; a draw wont look bad for CONCACAF. the game has been fairly even so far.

mexico up 1-0 iran had been putting on pressure early, but mexico has been picking it up. edited to add: holland looked very impressive today- particularly robben, as mentioned. they were very exciting to watch, and could've put more in.

as much as i despise mexico (in a soccer sense), i want them to win. but only because i want CONCACAF to look good. the more wins, the better for our future.

good finish by drogba. that'll give them a boost- very sluggish before that goal. great build-up though. "a game that has been controlled by argentina has now turned 360 degrees!" ... really?

this commentator (shep messing???) is almost as annoying as DOB. i swear if he says "oh baby!" or "for all you new viewers..." and then proceeds to explain the basic offside rule again, or make a basketball analogy one more time... well, i probably wont do anything, but i'll be increasingly annoyed. ivory coast needs to put away their chances. they wont be able to come back after being that wasteful.

i was pretty indifferent at the beginning of the game, but jesus, T&T deserved that.

Sancho has been great, and Edwards's tackle on Ljunberg just a minute ago was amazing. indeed, that tackle was exceptional. lawrence has also been solid at the back, and yorke has worked his tail off in the second half especially. actually all their players have been very committed.

T&T is really battling here. i gotta give them credit, they've held there own for the most part. hislop has saved their butts on more than one occaision. he's kept them in it, along with some timely tackles and blocks.

the offside rule is only in effect if the person recieving the ball is in front of the passer/ball. the ball can be played sideways or backwards (or forward as long as the recieving player is behind and runs onto it) and it doesn't matter. gotcha. thanks. That was the one thing I hated about refereeing - a majority of the parents not understanding what offsides was. That was so aggravating sometimes. we had a girl whose dad was absolutely terrible about that, yelling at the ref at any possible moment. she was completely embarrassed, and one game finally stopped, and yelled across the field "BILL! Shut the **** up!" didnt even call him 'dad'. it was great, he stopped talking at all during games. but on a more WC related note... thank God for univision because if i had to listen to dave o'brien and marcello balboa for one more minute i think i'd kill myself.
