Hey Marcelo. I bet England is happy to have Beckham on the field, eh? Still think he shouldn't be playing? Idiot. i think what he was saying earlier was that he was only useful on set pieces, and he wasnt contributing alot to the open play, because the game and conditions werent suited to his usual style of play (or something like that). my interpretation was that celo thought england needed someone to run at players (like lennon), which beckham isnt doing. he wasnt entirely off. and on a side note: lampard's finishing is comical. in every game he's played in its like hes pissed at someone in row Z.

frustrating that the goals are from a HUGE, HUGE brain fart and a non-existent penalty. as bad as a call that was, boca should have dealt with it earlier. that being said, i think i love clint dempsey. and that was a great ball by beasley. i'd like to see EJ start the second half, maybe for lewis and jump-start our attack.

my line-up for thursday: ------------------keller------------------ dolo-------gooch-----conrad------boca ------------------reyna------------------ dempsey----------------------convey/DMB -----------------donovan----------------- ------------EJ-------------Mcbride-------- conrad stepped up well, and boca was great last night- very solid. i agree with USSoccer- reyna takes over for mastro. if dempsey doesnt start again, bruce is a fool; he was fantastic last night and earned his spot. dmb or convey on the left, hell maybe even lewis or JOB, though id prefer convey. if JOB starts, hed be the first off, so id rather see him come in at the half or thereabouts. donovan back in the midfield, and EJ and BMB up top. we need EJ up there.

theoretically, probably. but i dont think anyone outside of the camp is really sure if hes 100% yet. he hasnt played 90 minutes in almost forever, and against a fast, physical team like ghana, fitness will be key. and really, it comes down to the fact that pablo was one of the best players on the field last night before he got himself sent off- we could have used that performance vs ghana matching up against appiah and essien.

The two Ghana players who scored goals yesterday will not be playing due to yellow cards? I think that's the case, yes. (I've just checked - yes, it is) By the same token, USA will be missing Pope and Mastroeni. i think we can deal without pope. conrad stepped in and filled his shoes well enough (although i did have a fit with the shirt pulling at the end of the game). on the other hand, mastro being out really changes things.

so far every ref has been. that tackle looked worse than i thought on the replay, but thats still only a yellow if derossi hadnt seen red. bad bull. weve played well- dempsey's giving a good account of himself, mcbride is much more involved, reynas pushing harder, mastro was playing well, bobby has been bright, and gooch has been strong. pope and landy so far our only weaknesses. landon has been more involved, but hes not too sharp. italy's diving is cheap.

i believe the lineup harkes listed was: D: dolo-gooch-pope-boca M: dempsey-mastro-reyna-donovan-convey F: mcbride that could go as a 4-4-2 or a 4-5-1. i like the defence. happy with boca and especially dempsey being in. but how the HELL do you not start johnson?! we had better win, or i think that will come back to bite bruce in the butt.
